hi everyone..
I always see all the advertisments for hte pills that supposedly help you lose weight....

my question is do any of these work and are they healthy? i have a thyroid problem and dont want to do anything that will affect that...

but im having such a hard time with exercising every day and just cant seem to get hte energy or motiviation to do it..i go to florida in 2 months and jus want to slim down a bit...im looking to lose20 lbs eventually but cant do it!!!!

alright, any help would be appreciated :)

I don't know much about diet pills but from what I understand they really don't work long term. You will usually gain backwhat you lost plus some. Unfortunately the truth is there is NO magic pill for losing weight. You have to choose a plan and stick with it. ::yes:: You have great motivation - a WDW trip! Start small - concentrate on drinking as much water as you can. For optimal weight loss they say 1/2 your body weight is a good number to shoot for. Then work on exercising 2 days a week, then 3, etc. Give yourself small goals and work towards those. Additionally, with your thyroid problem I would most definitely speak with your doctor before taking any diet pills!

I agree with Kaye - weight loss pills are NOT the way to go if you want this weight to stay off.

She gave some great advice - just what I would have said. Drink that water! A good rule of thumb is 80 oz per day or you can use the formula Kaye mentioned (divide your current weight by 2 and drink that many oz - if you weigh 160 lbs then drink 80 oz).

Are you changing the way you eat at all?

Exercise is good. Can you set small goals, like "I will exercise Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week." Just motivating yourself to walk 3 times a week for 20-30 minutes is a great start. I do have one hint for you. STARTING is the hardest part of exercise - once you're doing your workout you'll feel better. Promise yourself that if you just get started (no excuses!) and do 10 minutes and you want to stop, you can stop. I think you'll find that once you do 10 minutes you'll want to keep going. You'll feel so good AFTER you work out - hold onto that feeling for the next time when it's tough to get started. It will get easier!

Best wishes to you!! :sunny:

thank you as well...im sorry if i sound whiny..im just having such a hard time starting..i have changed the way im eating,,,im a picky eating, so im just trying to cut my portions down..thanks so much again

Yup, diet pills are so not the way to go. But I have to ask. Is there anything you can do to correct the Thyroid problem? I have been reading different columns in papers that say a thyroid disorder can have a huge effect on weight and may be the reason so many ppl have a real hard time losing the weight they want to.
You should ask your doctor what effects your thyroid problem may have with your weight and see what can be done to solve the problem. If it were me, that's what I'd do. Concentrate on my thyroid problem and once that's corrected, then work on the weight.

thanks for all your responses...but there is nothing they can do baout my thyroid problem..since i was 8, i kept getting tumors on my thryoid, so they had to remove the thyroid...now im on synthroid every day, but it is not normal,,,which is another erason i have such a hard time losing weight...thats why i was looking for other ways..thanks!
