Good Morning Everyone,
Debra: Why does that MIL have to muck up the plans? Stay at POR!!! Good job on your 5K, especially after your b2b. Your own little Dopey. How did you feel after running 3 days in a row? I'm actually looking forward to doing the b2b once Nov. starts. I'm curious to see if I can. I have it in my head that I can't do it because I'm too old and my knees are wobbly, but I might just be making that up. I'm thinking that if Beth can run 200 something days in a row, maybe I can do 3 in a row? That's one of the reasons I really love these boards, you do get a different perspective on things. I was really stressing last week about the ADRs for January. It's silly to be so worked up about it, it's just dinner!! I asked for my DH's input which took a lot of stress off me. I was surprised how responsive he was. I'm not sure he's 100% into this trip because of the money situation right now. I was pleasantly relieved that he had some suggestions. His major request was that not every meal be a character meal. I think that sounds reasonable. Our choices for January are: Friday night either Kona Cafe or Captain Cook's at the Poly, Sat night we are going to the Olive Garden off site, Sunday Chef Mickey's, Monday Cape May at Beach Club so DH can have a clam bake. Tuesday Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast, Wednesday Crystal Palace for dinner, Thursday Tusker House for breakfast and Ohana for dinner. Everything else will be decided as we go. Thanks for the advice about the .3 to .5 lb per week. That really makes a lot of sense. I'm just not sure I could control it that precisely. I do think that if I could limit my out of control eating to just one day a week I could probably get close to that. After this race is over in October I'll give it a try.
Manda: Sorry you were sick. So nice of DH to take such good care of you, even if it did involve a lot of food. Hope you've gotten back to tracking your food. The Palm Springs race sounds like a good choice for you. Feb is so far off though, is there a local 5K or 10K you could sign up for to keep you motivated short term?
Maria: Good job on eating just half the salad at CCF. Carrot Cake Cheesecake sounds wonderful. Cheetos are tough to resist. Next time be sure to read the ingredients with all those chemicals, maybe that will help you to pass them by. Thanks for you kind words about finding balance. That really is the key. I loved your comments on the BL8 thread about woking on your masters and giving up on everything else. You really can't live your life like that.
Beth: Thank you for your kind words. It's amazing how harsh we can be with ourselves, but would never say these things to others. To have made it through marathon training with little or no gain is a big switch for me, I've never done it in the 5 previous marathons so I guess I should be proud. Just too much of that mountain out of a mole hill thing. I have read some reports of your immune system being suppressed after running a marathon. I'm thinking it also occurs after really long runs. That and the additional stress of the upcoming race and all the other day to day stresses we live with just all pile up right before a race and that seems to lead to a cold. I am feeling a bit better. I still have a cough but I'm hoping that goes away in the next 10 days. I'm trying to remember to take my vitamins and extra vit C. So sorry those 2 lbs have taken up residence. I think this time of year our bodies naturally try to pack on the winter stores. When/where is your next race?
I postponed my run from yesterday until today since it was going to rain. Instead it cleared up and was gorgeous. I really wish I hadn't wimped out because now I'm trying to figure out how best to fit my remaining workouts in over the long holiday weekend so I can leave 2 rest days before the race and not have to do back to back runs since I'm not used to that at all. I really shoud have run yesterday. Oh well, it'll all work out I'm sure. I have managed to stay on plan with eating for 2 days now!!
Have a great day everyone.
Cindy
