Weight loss for Wishers and becoming Leaner Meaners!

I don't have time for a long post now, hopefully soon. Just wanted to say hi. Glad to see so many people posting.

Have a great day.
Cindy

Afternoon Everyone,

Vicky - yep that's a new picture. Right after Goofy a couple weeks ago. DianeL was on me about updating my picture so I did. :thumbsup2

I see people running all the time on my way to work, at lunch, on my way home and I'm so jealous that it's not me. Anyone else feel like this? Insert Walking, Running, Run/Walk here. ;) Today was the exception. It was snowing the ground was covered and it was cold. Getting even more tonight as we're under a Winter Storm Warning. Yikes.

jeanneg - LOVE the pictures. Looks like you had a blast. So awesome.

Tracey - Nice job on the workouts. It will come. Sometimes it's just a little stubborn is all.

Amy: WTG on the weight loss. That's terrific! I love that name, the Gasparilla Half. I'll bet they have cool bling. I keep hoping we'll be at Disney during the half, not to do it (that fee), but for spring break. We have APs that will expire in April and we're not renewing this year. :sad2: As for DOOD's race, he did a 3:44, and was taking it easy. (His PR is 3:29) Guess we know who the runner in the household is. :rotfl2:

Vic: An hour's worth of stairs! :scared: I think I need to do stair stairs, not a stairmaster. My legs still hurt and in not a good way. Right now, I don't live next to a local HS these days, but don't remember having these problems when I was doing them. (It's not age, people, I'm not entertaining that thought.) I really like the idea of combining track work with stairs to build up, too, so I'll go looking around for something comparable.

Beth: You're still down 2 pounds and had a good time celebrating with DH on his 40th. Both worth celebrating! :cheer2:

Tracey: DOOD is feeling better, now I'm feeling worse. We're a sickly couple, we are. Your altered plans sound good. I'm doing 3 days of strength training now that I'm in maintenance. Snow days and kids--perfect combo. We live at the edge of a park with incredible hills, so snow days are always wished for.

Jeanne: I love the pics of your dolphin swim. It looks like lots of fun and your avatar pic is soooo much better than a bling pic. (You've been there, done that. This is a unique adventure!) I am sorry ASI lost your photo, though. Dolphin kisses! :thumbsup2

Vicky: Throw your food out?? Heresy. Don't you know there are starving children in (fill in the blank)? Yep, my mother's voice echoes in my head sometimes. I'm sorry to hear about the cold--it sounds an awful lot like what DOOD and I have something. We've both been taking multiple naps each day--if you can count a nap as something over 1/2 hour. I hope you feel better.

Cindy: I just checked your blog for updates. Good to hear you've been keeping to your training, even if it's on the TM . I agree, the TM is so different than the road. Hard to gauge. Good luck with this weekend's 20 miler.

Chris: You sure don't look like you just did the Goofy--you look relaxed and energetic. :thumbsup2 I'm definitely not comparing my Goofy 2010 pics with yours, where I'll look like I'm strung out on crack. (I call it Powerade.)

As for me: I felt icky all day today, which meant 1) I ate too many bad-for-me comfort foods and 2) I put off my run until later in the day, hoping I'd feel better. The combination was not good. I felt nauseous on the run, almost to the point of booting. (And trust me, I was not moving quickly enough to justify it.) It'll be an early night tonight, and we'll see if I work out tomorrow. If so, it has to be early in the a.m.

Oh, and Amy, I hope you don't mind, but here's a candid shot from the POP meet. DOOD and I didn't take a lot of pics, being distracted with our family and all, but this one is a good one of you and Delena.

Hey that's me in the white shirt. :cool1: :cool1:

Good Evening, My Lean Mean Friends!

Why do I have time to post this late at night you ask? Because ds does not have school tomorrow! We got the automated call (we're getting a whopper snow storm tomorrow) a little earlier this evening, and I've been relishing my chance to stay up, since I'll be home with him tomorrow. I'm already trying to decide how long I can run on the TM while he works on reports he has due. He's almost 11, so he doesn't require the supervision of a 2 yr. old!

This is the kick I need to get going this week. Other than yoga at work today, I haven't done a darn thing since Saturday. I need to get moving! I know I'm going to be sad when I see the scale Friday.

Chris and AmyK -- Lovely back shots! :thumbsup2

Debra -- I'm sorry today wasn't your best. I hope you can be up and at 'em tomorrow, and feeling fantastic! :cool1:

Cindy -- Always nice to see you! Are you ready for the snow? :cold:

Vicky -- I managed to fall at the speedbumps at the entrance to MK parking, you know where the big sign is? It figures. I hit the ground chin first, and it wasn't pretty. I am really lucky I didn't have any lasting damage, and I got up and finished the Half. :goodvibes

Jeanne -- I am officially lovin' the dolphin pics! You guys look so happy! Maybe you're just a fish out of water... :beach:

Tracey -- Yep, I dug out ds's snow pants and he's good to go for tomorrow. Of course we already have about 8" left on the ground, so this is just bonus snow! :hyper:

Beth -- I bet you and Nancy are having a great time with the BL competition. It's all good! ::yes::

Vic -- I'm tired just reading your workout! :faint:

Jeff -- 8 miles just to warm up, huh? You run like an Other! Are you afraid you'll get LOST? Sorry, couldn't resist! :lmao:

Everyone have a great night, and a pleasant tomorrow!
Maria :upsidedow

Hey there chatty teammates!

I'd like to respond to everyone, but dinner is calling me after my 8 1/4 miler after work.

I will say (to Vicky) you can not be shy around this group. I've said that many times in other threads, you have to speak up and be heard at our forum encounters. Heck, we only see each other once, maybe twice a year. Treat it like a high school or family reunion and say hi to everyone, weather you know them or not.

Chris and Bubba (Steve) claim to be shy, but I can say they're really not. Only takes a little to get them talking. :lmao:

Chris was like me at the Friday night POP meet. He was switching hat to visor, I was switching shirts and hat and visor. I had three team meets there that night.

Oh, and here's Chris again (in his Orange hat), this is hilarious. Look closely between Laurie and I. We've been photobombed!:rotfl2:

Hope everyone is doing great, and back to their workouts.

Ok Tracey:

Deb, doing my 8 milers Tues/Thurs. Last week, instead of BBQing, we just headed over to the food court at Ala Moana Shopping center for dinner.

Tonight Guru Les and I laughed, that we were the only two still running, so BBQ for two isn't worth it. We'll see if any of the regulars show up this year, but I don't expect them to.

See the guy on the right, green shirt, his arm is a little out and between his arm and body is a splash of blue? That's ME! Seriously it is:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:!! Truly, I'm not trying to be sarcastic (although, I do have it in me). The reason I point this out is, I was soooooo close to Amy in the pic and then didn't even talk to her until later and I was so close to Chris and never met him!
Jeff, Jeff, Jeff....so jealous! Here's my dude's in the yard
DSC_0746-2.jpg

Now, I know, you wanna run in that! Oh, they're not that tough....they just wanted a studly shot!
Jeanne...What gorgeous pics. That truly looks like an experience of a lifetime. I would love to do that some day, and to do it in Cabo would be even better.;)
Vicky....sorry you've been sick...there's so much yuck going around. Feel better quick.
Cindy....hey there! Are you still snow running?
Chris....I feel envious when I see people out there running. Usually it's when I'm toting four kids around in the car getting them where they need to go:lmao: .
Deb....3:44 for DOOD! Woot, Woot!:cheer2: Wow, he's fast! Sorry that you've been sick too. Sometimes comfort food is the best thing! And naps on a cold winter day are a great remedy. Feel better soon.
Maria...glad to hear the chin's feelling better and it sounds like you have the day off today to spend with your DS. Snow days? Is there anything better? I can say that because it's the first big snow we've had this year.
Everybody else:

On top of our snow yesterday, we got 4+ more last night! The kids have another day off and they're ecstatic! More snow pics to take. Gotta go make breakfast for the kids!

Debra - I have a friend who says it's not a nap unless it's at least three hours long!! Crazy huh?! Hope you and DOOD feel better soon!

Jeff - But I never went to my high school reunion ... I don't think we had one (seriously). DIS/WISH is so much better anyway! I think I'll probably be better next year now that I know a bunch of people from the mini meets and my team.

Maria - Ouch! I'm glad you're okay! I saw someone else running near me who took a spill early on (I think around mile 2 or 3). It was really crowded and I saw him go down out of the corner of my eye. But he did this shoulder roll, got back up and kept running. Crazy! If that was me, I would have been trampled.

AFM - Lots of snow here in Toronto today. I'll be indoors with my weights and Wii Fit and then watching Lost tonight!

Good Morning Team,

Got in 4 miles this morning on the treadmill. Nothing, but ice and snow outside so I had to take it inside. Working from home today so I took my lunch really early.

Quote from Spaceballs the Movie "Why didn't somebody tell me my butt was this big." :lmao:

I am really shy even though I was doing the hat dance. That was my fourth Disney race and other than meeting Jeff at Disneyland the first time I was seeking anyone out on the WISH boards or the DR boards. I'm getting better though. :thumbsup2

I'm so jealous of anyone that lives near a beach. :beach:

Hello Lean Meaners,

I'm slinking back in here after a couple of unsuccessful battles with the box of Lucky Charms (Beth, you understand, right? :lmao: )

Susie - We haven't "met", but I wanted to wish you good luck with your knee. I hope it's easily fixable. :goodvibes

Debra - My lean meaness is kind of at a standstill right now. I haven't been making great food choices lately. However, right before the marathon, I had to go out and buy smaller jeans and those new jeans still fit fine. So, I haven't done too much damage with my eating. Congrats on being down a pound! :cool1: How are you feeling? I hope you're better today. :goodvibes

Beth - I've had many a battle with pizza at 2:00 AM. These things happen. The good news in that you're still down 2 lbs! :cheer2:

Vic, Chirs, & Jeff - Great for you guys, getting out there are getting 7 and 8 miles in. I'm a tad jealous. I've had such a hard time getting motivated since the marathon. :sad2:

Amy - Congrats on the 6 lbs - that is awesome! :thumbsup2 The Gasparilla 1/2 sounds like a lot of fun. Enjoy!

Tracey - Your boys are adorable! We're getting snow here today also. The kids are very excited that they have no school and they can play in the snow. :cool1:

Jeanne - Sorry to hear that you couldn't find your medal photo. It took me forever to sort through the lost & found to find one of mine.

Vicky - I'm glad to hear your 1/2 was great. I thought the full was good, hard, but good. When I crossed the finish line I swore I would never do the full again, but now I'm hoping to do it in 2010. I must be nuts! :rotfl:

Maria - Are you getting your long TM workout done today? I'm sitting here watching the snow pile up and wondering when I will ever run. :sad2:

As for me, I will not be getting any running in today. Unlike Maria, I don't have a TM and I do have a 2 yr old. Plus, we're getting 4-8 inches of snow today. I really hope I can get motivated once the sidewalks are shovelled. I've only run twice since the marathon. :sad2:

Have a great, lean, mean week!

Julie: I hear ya with the shoveling......wow, this snow was heavy! My back has been hurting for a couple of weeks and today's snow shoveling was not good for my back! :sad1: And about those Lucky Charms......there is no way around it for me except the empty box. I can't buy the stuff anymore.....it's like drugs for me. I LOVE them! Hope your box is empty......:rotfl:

Chris: I always envy those runners I pass when I am driving.....it always makes me want to run, even if I have already!

Amy: 6 pounds is great! WTG!

Jeanne: I am with you with the good day, and then the bad day. I have had to be really strong at night.....I tend to eat at night out of boredom. Last night was really bad, dh is out of town and the boys were in bed.....that means a trip to the kitchen usually. I had to talk myself down for a long time....but I did stay strong and didn't eat! I'll take any success, even the small ones!

AFM: I have ramped things up this week. I am spending most of my time on the elliptical or the EFX (elliptical fitness x-trainer) this week. I have logged 20 miles in three days! I find the elliptical easier on my back, but still a great workout.....especially the EFX, which kicks my butt. My back was feeling better until the snow shoveling today.

Beth

Hi Everyone,

Beth: Hope the back is feeling better soon. Snow shoveling kills my back. I guess I need to work on my technique. Good job getting so many miles in on the elliptical. Glad you had fun at Foxwoods. 2 lbs is great. The extra points competition sounds good too.

Julie: Great job getting down to a smaller size and being able to stay in that size despite your Lucky Charms issues. Do you have any spring races planned? I think that the sidewalks will be treacherous for a while. Even if people shoveled yesterday, with all the rain last night things looked scary this morning on my ride in to Cambridge. I’ve given up any hope of lunchtime runs until our January thaw which might not get here until February this year.

Chris: Good job getting on the TM. I live only 30 miles from the beach, but I don’t think it would be any kind of treat this time of year. Maybe you meant a warm, sunny beach. I do get jealous when I do see other people running if the weather is nice, however, I’m surprised at how often I say "man those people are crazy, I’d never run in this weather".

Vicky: Three hour nap – that reminds me of being in college. I’ll take 20 minutes these days and feel lucky. How do you like the Wii fit? Do you use it a lot? Is it a good workout? I’d really like to get it, but not sure I can spend the money right now. Maybe soon. Hope your cold is better.

Tracey: Love the photo. I’m glad you enjoyed your snow day. We had a snow day yesterday too. I haven’t run outside since the pictures I posted. Getting my TM runs in though. Just 25 more days till my marathon, so I have to stick with it.

Maria: Did you get some quality time on the TM yesterday? I made a huge mistake yesterday and didn’t clear the driveway early in the day. By dinner time the snow was so heavy with all the rain I couldn’t do much. I managed to get the car stuck sideways across the driveway. DH was not happy with me. I’m really tired of this winter weather. Congrats on the 5 lb loss since the beginning of the year. That’s great.

Debra: Hope you are feeling better. Thanks for commenting on my Blog. I was really hoping to keep up on it better, but there’s only so much time in a day.

Jeanne: Thanks for sharing your dolphin photos. They are terrific. I’m sorry they lost your medal photo. That’s very disappointing. I hear you about the one good day, one bad one. Keep on trying and hopefully everything will click soon.

Amy: Congrats on the 6 lbs. That is awesome. A new decade is even greater.

Vic: Nice to see you. Your stair workout sounds great. I’ve been doing a Jillian Michaels workout DVD in which she has us do Burpies. I think of you every time since I had never heard of them before you mentioned it in a post a while back.

I have really been struggling with the eating. I had a couple of good days then we had a bday party for my kids this weekend and I haven’t been able to get back on track. I think a lot of it is the mid-winter blues. I’m hoping I can at least maintain where I am, then after my race on 2/22 get back to downsizing.

I have been keeping up with my runs and I’ve been doing a lot of Jillian Michaels DVDs. I got a great speed workout in on the TM yesterday. I’m still doing my healthy living checklist, but I’m not scoring as many points as I should be. How hard is it to take a vitamin every day? Yet I keep skipping that. I think I need to identify what my prize will be which may motivate me to work a little harder.

I hope everyone has a great day.
Cindy

Hey Meaners! How's it going? Today is my day for errands and laundry. They are done for today! Yippee. I am now waiting for my dh to go to lunch.

I am trying a crock pot recipe today. It's bread filling using high fiber/lower carb bread. I have been craving stuffing, and this sounds like a good substitution. The bread I use is 5 g fiber a piece/with 2 net carbs. I cut it up, toasted it a little, and mixed it up for the crock pot. I will let you know if comes out good or not.

Cindy: It really hard to get back on track for me when I take a day off. Seems like I am not in the 'game' anymore for awhile. It's all mental.....but you are not alone. Take a day to change things up to get back in the mental game. Maybe a vegetarian day, no sugar day, low carb day...... you get my meaning. Sometimes just paying extra attention to what you are eating, or the planning of it can get it back for you.

Vicky: The only kind of nap I can do is the 3 hour kind..... I LOVE alot of sleep! 20 min for me is impossible!

Amy: Keep up the great work!

Jeanne: I love the dolphin pictures! Thanks for posting them.

AFM: I am loving the BL competition with Nancy. It's making me feel accountable, and helping tremendously to not eat after dinner. Can't ask for more than that. With the point challenge this week we changed the fiber thing to 5 fruits and veggies a day to earn a point. I missed it yesterday with the snow....didn't get my lunch time salad! But, I stopped for one today, so I don't lose another point!

I did get to the gym yesterday and logged 7 miles on the elliptical....Glad it got done with the kids with me. They were playing Wally Ball in the racquet ball court and having a great time.

Beth

Cindy - Actually any beach is fine. I don't get in the water anyway I just love to walk on the beach and hear the waves crash. It's been since 2005 since I've heard that. Too busy going to Disney every trip. :rotfl2:

Chris: I can't believe we were right next to you and didn't meet you! :sad2: I think you're pretty outgoing to even do the hat dance. :thumbsup2

Maria: How has this weeks WOs ended up being. Snow storms generally make me want to hibernate and for some reason offset even my regular in-the-house WOs? I'd find lots of reasons to be distracted.

Aloha Jeff: So, you and Chris wear many different hats in your lives. International men of mystery, perhaps? You probably look great in tuxes, too. Why don't you expect the regular runners to show up for sessions? Off-season?

Tracey: Your boys are handsome and ever-so-slightly bad boy-ish in their oh-so-natural poses! Proof of that is in the fact they're posing in the snow! Brrrr.

Vicky: If a nap is at least three hours long, how long is a good night's sleep? Or maybe there's a reason for that extended nappage. :confused3 :rotfl: You're another person with Wii Fit. I so want one, but DOOD doesn't think I need a Wii or any more electronic distractions. I keep trying to convince him it's good for my health... Make my argument for me!

Julie: Wow! Congrats on the smaller size jeans. That's always a watershed moment for me. I'm at the other end of the scale--in my biggest pair. Then again, I always wear my clothes a size or two too big. It's an aesthetic thing, as in I have no fashion aesthetic. ;) How are your sidewalks out your way? Even mostly cleared I'll bet the ice makes the running nearly impossible.

Beth: Oh, no! Is your back okay today? I hope you avoided injury with all the potential snow shoveling. Woo hoo for the EFX. That's incredible mileage you're putting in! :cool1: Yay for earning your point on the fiber part of your BL challenge, and just for doing so well on it in general. Question: what is Wally Ball?

Cindy: I tried to blog for a while, but couldn't keep up with it. I hear you on the mid-winter blues. And taking pills is difficult for me for some reason, as well. Love, love the phrase "downsizing." I'm all about the euphemisms, and yours puts a positive spin on the word. :upsidedow

As for me: No lean meanness since last I reported. In addition to the upset tummy, I managed to acquire shin splints on my last run. I knew I was being stupid, going out for the run just to get it over with. I didn't warm up or cool down properly and am paying the price. Somtimes I'm not the brightest penny in the bunch. Anyway, now I'm just hoping not to gain any weight this week.

In more amusing news, I was feeling so ick that DOOD even made me dinner last night. Grilled cheese sandwich and opened a can of tomato soup. :rotfl2: You know, when I first met him, he made all these wonderful dishes and baked cookies and bread. Now he thinks cooking is a microwaved burrito or reheating the meals I make. I think I got sold a false bill of goods. :rotfl: Oh, well, it's not like I wanted anything else. I'm planning on going to the gym tomorrow.

Just a quick drive-by since I have some Ohana homework to do.....:rotfl:

Chris: add me to the list of people who was near you at the Pop meet, but didn't meet you. Usually whenever I see a guy with WISH apparel I figure he's somebody's husband and don't want to seem like a stalker! (Unless it's someone like Jeff who plasters his photos all over the place so we can't NOT recognize him!)

Tracy: love the photos of your boys....that's quite a handsome bunch of kiddies!

Beth: feel better

Deb: feel better

Julie: congrats on the smaller jeans :thumbsup2

Hugs to everyone else!

I'm so sorry I didn't get to meet all of you, but I'll plaster my pictures all over too so I can't hide.....:rotfl2:

Here I am at the end of the marathon....

I hope these aren't too big I don't know what size you are allowed to post here.
