Weight loss for Wishers and becoming Leaner Meaners!

Hello Lean Meaners,

I've gotten back in the eating well groove for a couple days so I'm happy about that. I still haven't lost all the weight I gained over Christmas, but I'm working on it.

Signed up for Goofy 2010 today so I guess I have a lot of training ahead of me.

Beth: I hope work is not too crazy.

Just posting to get this thread back up at the top.

Started the morning with a Jillian Michael's DVD. A good way to start the day. It's supposed to be super cold here this week, so I think my runs will have to be inside.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Hey Meaners! Thanks Cindy for the bump!:thumbsup2

I am slowly seeing some of our troops from WDW coming back on! Welcome back!

So, another year, more goals.......

1. Lose the last of this weight for good! I am looking at 20 pounds
(again!) that I want to banish forever!

2. Take 4 minutes off of my 1/2 marathon time! Looking towards April
at the Country Music 1/2.

3. Continue (or increase) my strength training consistently!

I have been eating well, but the weight is not following suit. I did pick up
some weight on vacation in December, and I am working to get it off. Just not happening at the moment.

I have been running decently. I logged 28 miles last week!

I did get back to Pilates yesterday (which I need!) and am hurting today to prove it! Did weights 3x last week too!

I hope to continue on this healthy/fit path the rest of the year!

Beth

Beth: Awesome goals. They all seem reasonable and well within your reach. Being consistent with the weights will surely help in the weight loss department. You have to ask yourself if you don't do it now when will you? Have you seen the Valerie Bertinelli commercial for Jenny Craig where she's talking about 2008 being the first year that her resolution wasn't to lose weight, then in 2009 saying the same thing? I got all teary watching that. That's where I want to be for the start of 2010.

It's funny that you should post your goals today. Just this morning I put together a list of things I want to work on this year. I haven't made a New Year's resolution yet so this is sort of along those lines. I think overall I'm in a much healthier place than I was last year and even healthier than the year before, but I made a list of 10 little things I can do most days to improve my health. They're little things like take my calcium supplement, stretch for 10 minutes, floss, drink 64 oz water, etc. I'm hoping that by making a checklist and a column for each day I'll be motivated to make these small changes. Sort of like a sticker chart for grown ups.

Have a great day.

Hi Meaners!

I'm back and I finished the 1/2, but it wasn't pretty. Ended up overhydrating.  I felt so sick that I walked the last 4-5 miles. I am glad I finished, but am harboring a bit of disappointment over my time (3:15), since it is a half hour LONGER than my time from my half in november.

It was so fun to finally meet some of you!

Tracey, so glad that I found you on saturday morning and that we could walk the long walk to the start together!

Debra, so nice to meet you at POP, and you were looking great during the full when we saw you at water stop 11. I think we saw DOOD too. He was cruising!!

here is a pic of me with my Donald bling...

Amy: Thanks so much for posting your picture. Congrats to you for finishing despite not feeling well. Every race is a learning experience. Sorry for your disappointment, but I'm sure you'll benefit from this the next time around.

This thread was getting pretty far down there. I managed to get on the TM for 6 last night. It was far too cold to run outside. I packed a picnic dinner for my 2 girls brought them down to the basement and set them up in front of my laptop with Horton Hears a Who and got my run in. I couldn't see the movie, but I got to watch them watching the movie which was pretty funny in itself.

Eating has been OK, but not stellar. I've been ravenous lately. I'm not sure if it's because of the cold or since I'm working out more doing weights and core stuff which I really don't do very often.

I've been using my healthy living check list and got 6 out of 10 checks on Tuesday and 7 out of 10 yesterday.

Have a great day everyone.

Cindy:

Can you enlighten me as to the healthy living checklist...sounds interesting?

Thanks!

Hey guys! I've been really slack on this thread... Sorry for that! I've been to visit my brother in Mexico and then onto WDW for the Half Marathon. I did complete albeit very very slow! I will get my revenge for the Princess Half though since it is the same course... not sure if I'm happy about the same course or not...

Hope all is well...

As soon as my home computer starts working, I will post a few pics.

I've taken about a week off, but training starts back this weekend. Also going to cutback on the sweets...

Stacie

Mike: I made a list of 10 things that I could do almost every day in an effort to be healthier. They are things like drink 64 oz water, put sunscreen on my face, stay within my weight watcher's pts, take my vitamin. I've made a chart and I am checking things off each day. At the end of 6 weeks I plan on rewarding myself in some way if I reach a certain goal - maybe 80% compliance? I'm still trying to work out all the details. I'm trying to avoid the more nebulous "this year I vow to be more healthy" resolution that I usually do and make it easy enough for me to have some success.

Stacie: Glad to have you back. I hope you enjoyed your trips.

Cindy

Hi guys!
I keep trying to change my avatar to a pic of me and Minnie, but I keep having problems. I think I have to sit through a tutorial video. It keeps saying "invalid file" or "file is too large" (I already sized it down to 100x100):confused3 . Any tips?
Amy....super cute pic of you and your bling. I am so happy that you found me Saturday morning. That walk was so much better with you by my side:goodvibes . I looked for you again outside the porta potties, but didn't find you.
Deb....that was me screaming to you outside of Morocco....25 miles in and you still had a smile on your face.
Beth...that Country Music marathon sounds awesome.
Cindy...so you're going Goofy in 2010! You rock! I like the idea of the healthy checklist.
Stacie...I didn't get to meet you this weekend, so now I'll have to go back so I can see you face to face.;)
Hey there, Mike!

Well, the 1/2 marathon was fantastic. Our trip could not have been better in any way! The weather was gorgeous, the race was more than I could have expected, the excitement was contagious, the food was spectacular....can you tell I had a good time?:rotfl2: I finished in 2:25 which was not quite what I hoped for, but definitely okay for my first 1/2 (now I have room to improve;) ). I was pegged in for pretty much my first 2 miles and have learned a few lessons from running in my first "long" race. I had fun talking to people and commenting on shirts. Some girl had a shirt that said, "Does this shirt make my butt look fast?":rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: It was her first 1/2 and she was running with her brother. I was so touched by all the runners running in memory of someone. My DS15 recommended that I dedicate each mile to people I love so I could tell them that I ran their whole mile.....so that's exactly what I did and I wrote it on my arm. I realized that I should run with pretzels or jelly beans and I realized that the journey is just as exciting as the destination. I met Team Hoyt and was so excited that all I could say was, "I am soooooo happy to meet you." What can I say y'all LIFE IS GOOD and I am blessed to be on this journey! Have a great day!

Cindy: What a great idea! I, too, hate the non-specific idea that I am going to try to be healthier! You have to define that idea for yourself, and that's what you did with your list! Makes you feel successful to 'cross' things off the list!

I fell off the wagon last night with a piece of pizza. My kids were BEGGING for pizza, and I can't remember the last time we had delivery pizza. I gave in, but they had to use their own money since I had none! Jokes on them!:rotfl2: I did promise to pay them back!

I got back to the gym today for 7 miles on the TM. Glad to get it done!

Beth

well, here I am, I'll figure out how to put it in my avatar later.;)

Cindy: How cool that I'm going to see you for Goofy 2010! I'm still planning on it, but haven't signed up yet. (Too soon on the credit card statement.) I like the "health living" checklist. Between that idea and Beth's goals, I feel inspired to do some serious assessment! And what a cool idea for your 6 miler on the TM...a picnic for the girls.

Beth: Love the specificity of your goals. Like I said to Cindy, this kind of stuff is so helpful to see, and encourages me to do that for myself. So, April and CMM, huh? I'm tempted, but I don't know that April is in the cards for us. Your story about the pizza made me laugh. :rotfl2: Bet it made the pizza taste better, too!

Mike: It's been a while since I was on here regularly--did you injure your knees? You've been putting in a lot of time consistently, so probably not an overtraining injury. Congratulations on that skinny feeling!

Amy: Love the bling, almost as much as I loved meeting you and DD. (Sorry if DOOD and I were distracted by our family emergency--hope I didn't come off as rude.) So sorry to hear about your overhydration on the 1/2. (Us water stop volunteers were pushing the water like crack, weren't we!) But you know you can move faster, and have, so this one's just the encouragement you need to sign up for next year, right?

Stacie: You and Matt looked great when I saw you cheering at the full. (And it's so not fair that he wasn't really feeling the 1/2 after his, ahem, training. :lmao: ) So you're doing the Princess half? I'm trying to convince DOOD that we should fly down for it and scream team (it's during his spring break). I'm not sure if he thinks I'm crazy or not, but we have APs and I'm not asking to register for the race or anything....:rolleyes1

Tracey: Just as with Amy, I hope I didn't come off as too rude when I met. DOOD and I were really distracted by my ILs' emergency room visit. It was good to meet you, and I wish I could have relaxed more and been in the moment. (We circulated, but thought we'd have to leave at any moment.) Thanks for screaming me on. I was feeling fine at Morocco, really. Jackie (MouseDogMom) and I had been pacing her DH for a few miles--he was walking really slowly and stopping a lot because of leg cramps--and had just left him in order to make our 7.00 time. So we were practically rested at that point and just happy to know we'd make the official finishing time.

More important--woo hoo on your first 1/2 and great finishing time! :woohoo: It sounds as if you had a great time and will be up for another Disney race soon. The princess, perhaps? I can't help you with the avatar, but love the pic in your post/siggy line! You're definitely looking fresh and ready to run another half! :goodvibes

As for me: Lean Meaners! Slinking back in again with the bad news. i managed to reach a new decade while at WDW. Might have had to do with all those meals out before the marathon. You would have thought I'd have burned some of those calories off in the 7.00 hours it took to finish, but noooooo. Yep, that's right. I took every minute Disney gave me to finish! Jackie (MouseDogMom) and me were doing the walking wounded race-day plan and had a blast together!

Unfortunately, I've now seen the race pics. I'm much heavier than I was 6 months ago, or even a year ago, and it shows. Backslide, backslide, backslide. (Or should I say backside, backside, backside?) Time to recommit to my inner lean meanness. I don't have a planned race for a while, so my goal is to concentrate on getting back into good habits--especially for XT and eating. No excuses like, "But I really need to fuel for my LR." :sad2:

Next up, some specific goals and a checklist.

Tracey: Great picture with Minnie!! Where were the characters?? I was so sick:sick: I don't think I would have waited for a picture anyhow. I am going to be a dork and bring my medal back when we go in March so I can get a picture with Donald.

Debra: I didn't think for one second that you were rude! I hope your IL's are feeling better. I think I am going to go goofy 2010 :scared1: :scared1: As for the rest of this year, I am going to do the princess 1/2 AND another local 1/2 the week prior to the princess. :scared1: :scared1: Then, that is it for awhile, except for 5k's.

I will be back sometime soon with some concrete goals for this year.

Amy....the characters were in the family reunion area right next to the band, who, by the way, was AWESOME! All 80's music....what more could I ask for. I'm sorry you were so sick at the end. I don't think I properly hydrated either...I'm going to have to experiment with that. I held my hands up in triumph at the finish line, got my chip cut off, my medal on, my "official" pic and then walked through baggage check to my DH where he threw his arms around me and kept saying, "You did it" while I cried. In line for the characters, I was standing next to this lovely young woman and my DH and I both said, "Now, she "looks" like a runner" we just realized last night that she was the gal who finished first!
Deb....I never ever thought you were rude. Is your FIL okay? It was great meeting everyone and next time I'll know even more people. I'm usually super outgoing, but it was like I didn't quite know where to start last Friday. Afterwards, I realized that the Lean Meaners should've had their pic taken together. Oh well, maybe next year.
Everybody else....I'll be back later with my concrete goals too. I'll be making a checklist as well.:thumbsup2 I also bought the Jillian 30 day shred before I left so I'm trying that today.

Had a nice long post ready, and then the power blinked.

:(

too tired to recreate it, but trust me, it was GENIUS!

anyway, :wave2: everyone!

Mike: Dont'cha hate that? It always seems to be when you have a longer post.....something goes wrong! Thanks for the thoughts though!:) :)

Debra: How is your FIL? I hope everything worked out ok! Glad you had a blast at the marathon! You deserve it. Yeah, the pizza was pretty good when you don't pay for it! I still have to pay them back.....they might have to wait for pay day though.

Tracey: Great picture! I am glad to have my dh to post my pictures.....I would never be able to do it by myself.....isn't that ashame???

So, Igot to the gym today for 5 uneventful miles today. Uninspired 5 slogging miles. Better than nothing......I did it on an empty stomach, and I had no ump (if you know what I mean). I am buckeling down and being really good the next few days.....I am taking my dh to Foxwoods next weekend for his 40th birthday and we are taking a couple of friends. I don't want to stress out about eating, so maybe if I am extra good this week, I can take a few days off! We'll see how it goes. :cheer2: :cheer2:

I hope everyone is back from WDW and happy to be back home. My SIL ran the marathon, and is really happy with the results. She finished in under 5 hours and even got to walk around MK without pain. She really isn't sore at all, and had a blast! She turned 50 this year, and did it in celebration! :cheer2:

Beth

We supposedly had a windstorm that was to hit the islands on Friday. So bad that they canceled school, and gave us government workers the day off.

Despite what was predicted, 60-70 mph gusts, it never materialized. Some winds and rain, but not the destruction they anticipated.

It did get down either in the high 40's, or low 50's overnight. Rare for Honolulu.

Today, at 10 am, this is the view out our lanai. Just thought you'd all like to see it.
