Not sure if this where to ask but I have been looking all over for weight limits?? We are slightly on the larger side 225-250 and I really don't want to stand in line then not be able to ride:worried: This has really been bothering me I afraid I just won't ride:( but I love the rides.

Well wish I could drop 50 in 2 months then maybe I would worry so much.

oh well - if you know please advice me

Thanks We will be there in AUGUST!!!!

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

I don't know of any attractions that have weight limits. The only places with weight limits are the Segway Lessons/Tours and the Horseback Riding at Fort Wilderness.

However, there might be some rights where if you are very Pooh-shaped there might be a problem with the restraint. In those instances they tend to have a ride vehicle outside for testing.

Also, there tends to be a CM near the entrance to attractions which have long lines, and you might ask them for an opinion.

you are scrawny compared to me, lol, I have hit 350 and am somewhere under 300. I smashed the scale on the driveway so my guess is 280, lol.

The main obstacle for large adults as well as children is not weight but size. A woman with with a big chest my have difficulties with harnesses and a neighbor of mine could not ride the Maliboomer because he was barrel-chested. I was at Disneyland with a lady and she would get stuck going through turnstiles because her lower half was a bit wide. I weigh more than her but am more top heavy it seems.

The main problems you will have is the getting in and out of ride vehicles. I have only got "stuck" on two rides that i can think of and both at Disneyland. I was in the cages of Casey Jr. and could not stoop low enough so when the cage emptied I got on my knees and backed out the door which was wide enough. I just could not bend lol. On the rocket jets at Disneyland you set on the floor of the jet and it rolls to the side. I was a bit wedged but not tight and that was not the problem. It was the standing up from setting with my rump on the ground and being confined.

Some rides at Disney and other parks even have extender belts so that wide people can ride. Some rides have ride vehicles where guests can see if they will fit or transfer into. I have been obese about 49 of my 50 years, lol. I now have fewer problems with rides because as time goes on the ride designers have made more rides assessable.

Good luck on your trip.

good question to ask :goodvibes
last time i went i was very uncomfortable with my size, but now im at my heaviest ever! 50 pounds heavier than last time. im trying to diet but its going very slow, im just worried i wont go on many rides.
i know theyre making the rides bigger as the generations are getting bigger, just hoping i lose as much as i can before i go.
wish me luck :)

I am extremely pooh sized and have not had too many problems at WDW if you plan it out right on how to do things.

At HM I have a bit of trouble squeezing through the turnstiles as my lower region is pretty wide. However, if you go through sideways and while you are moving (do not stop keep walking) it can be done. Other alternative is to go through the handicapped entrance which is not in the main line. I park my ECV and go through the regular line so no experience there.

Space Mtn is a no go for me, due to my size and disability of being not very flexible I could not get out of the car without my DH literally pulling me out...:(

On Thunder Mtn DH and I sit in separate seats now as the squeeze is too tight and we just say 1 person when we get to the bottom of the line to the CM.

Test Track is far more comfortable if there are two rides and you each sit on one side of the car leaving the middle seat empty. The front of the car has far more leg room for legs than the back seat does.

Soarin does tend to squish your posterior a bit if it is on the large size, but it is not painful and the seat belts fit fine on everyone.

I do not ride RnR, Everest, Dumbo, Teacups. Alladin or anything that spins so cannot give you any info on those for larger size people.

If in doubt as someone said you can ask the CM at the entrance any questions you have.

One thing to realize is that sometimes the CMs are only counting 'heads' when they load attraction vehicles with bench seating (Kilimanjaro Safari as an example) and they are not looking at the body size. We had a very uncomfortable ride when the CM let too many Pooh-sized people onto the row we were in - if it had all been my family (and some of them are Pooh-sized, btw) it wouldn't have been too bad, but being crammed in with strangers (of any size!) was awkward. So, if you think you might not fit comfortably, feel free to let the CM at the loading area know.

and have some websites that I can send you to - you will have no worries - pm me and I will get you those websites!! I am traveling with various pooh sized folks in august to the world as well.

Passporter's Open Mouse book has some good hints/info for Pooh sized folks.

Allearsnet.com also has a page about size that may be helpful, with a link to attraction ride car photos that were taken with the viewpoint of size. Some of the links on the allears site are not working right now (June 7, 2008), but they are apparently migrating their site to a new server, so some of the pages may not come up right now.

Thanks everyone!:thumbsup2 Maybe I won't be so woried now? I'll just keep trying to lose before I go!!!

txnana - how do I private message you for those web sites??? I would love to read up some.

click on the person's name on the left.
a little box will appear with a list of options like private message.

As for weight gain the rule of thumb is 10 calories per pound per year gained is how many calories you are over eating and/or underexcercising a day.

20 pounds a year gained means you have to cut back 200 calories a day. That is a rough estimate but helps show that a single soda pop, glass of juice, or beer a day can add up to a lot of pounds a year. Gluttony may not be the problem but eating a few too many fries or a triple scoop of mashed potatos. I am fighting the urge to eat lots of candy as I am nibbling a few an hour but it adds up.

The only rides I know of that have weight limits are the old swing ride at Knotts, the Stinger at DCA, a ride at DCA where you go up and it is kid type, and there is a kids activity in DCA Redwoods where you slide from an overhead handle. Do not recall any rides in WDW saying a weight limit.

Good luck on the trip.

Not sure about a weight limit, but I'm sure you would be OK. I think the biggest issue would be the comfort of the ride vehicles. If you are in doubt, ask a CM if the ride has a test vehicle--many do and they can take you to a very discreet area to 'try out' the seats beforehand.:duck:
