Wegmans food stores

not even funny!! ;)

We went out for lunch in Cherry Hill for Father's Day. After ordering, DH suggested cancelling the order and heading over to Wegmans to pick a few things up instead. He was eyeballing the huge scallops in the seafood display yesterday. The remainders from yesterday's trip will be pulled out for "dinner" tonight!
Happy Father's Day Shopping! :goodvibes

Well, we're back.

For the record, it took 10 minutes to get there compared to 12 for Mt. Laurel. The route we need to get to CH is much more traffic dependent, though, so at certain times of day, ML would be a shorter ride.

The stores are virtually identical. I much prefer the seating area of the cafe in ML. Much of it is fully enclosed so it is a lot quieter. The CH one is all open so you hear all the noise from the store below.

Once again, the cashier had no clue what to do with my free Coke coupon, but the lead cashier who came over had no problem.

Of note, Kleenex was $.99 which is less than it had been last time we were at the ML store, and milk was $2.09/gallon. Can't beat that.

I"ve been shopping at Wegmans since 1979 when I moved to Rochester NY from NJ, yup I was a Shop Rite shopper! Wegmans is the best!! Prices may be higher on some items and lower on others, it all balances out. Is the Driving Park store smaller than the East Henrietta/ Calkins location. Anyone out there remember the Scottsville store?

Isn't that the best?? My DS loves going into the WKids Center! I've always been very impressed with the caregivers too....I've discovered that many of them (in the store I shop anyway) are education students at the local community college. It's nice to know that they don't just throw anyone into the kids club to work...they actually hire people that like (and are good with) kids!

My store used to give you 1.5 hours, but because it's so popular, they've dropped it down to an hour. My friends and I (and sometimes My Dh and I) will often have coffee or lunch and it's so nice to have a place to put the kids!

Marcy

NOne of the Wegmans near us have the kids centers. The only store that I know of that has a kids center is Shoprite (Medford, NJ)

Love, LOVE, LOVE Wegmans!!!

I have become a grocery store snob after shopping there. Their prices are low and the quality is outstanding. And the atmosphere...it's the Starbucks of grocery stores. I drop my kids off at the high quality WKids, get myself a mocha latte from the coffee bar and start my shopping.

Now when I'm on vacation, and I have to stop in a grocery store on Long Island or Maryland or wherever I am, I wonder to myself how people ever get by with such dingy little supermarkets.

It has been years since I've been in the DPark store, but it is about the same size, maybe a little smallers than the one on EHen & Calkins. I don't remember the Scottsville one, but DH misses the one on Mt. Hope right near Strong/U of R. He used the love going there for a quick bite and now he has to lug his lunch back & forth! :)

Nice to hear that our beloved hometown supermarket is well-liked in other areas. I stopped at a local Tops store for something I can't get at Wegs (Sahlen's hot dogs from Buffalo!) and couldn't believe the way the employees treated the customers & how dirty the store is. Glad I have a smaller Wegmans 1 minute from my house and 3 larger ones within a 10-15 min drive!

Here's how to price match for Shoprite coupons. I've done it a ton at Mt Laurel and at Cherry Hill.

Wegmans will only take the coupons that are in the front of the flier or the mailer you get.

Wegmans has a little scanner sheet that they use that has the Shoprite price barcoded. The cashier scans that and then overrides the price. Occasionally at Cherry Hill the cashier doesn't know what is going on, and needs a head cashier to assist them. Since this store just opened up last week, I understand that.

I usually save my Shoprite things for the end of the order to assist the cashier. I tell the cashier that these things are Shoprite items.
Thank you for the info! Will they pricematch to sale items? Same thing, just show flyer?

I think DH & I need to plan a date night at the Princeton Wegmans, LOL. Our kids have never been to the kids club there, but they like the one at our new(ish) Shoprite, so I'm sure they'd be happy.

I shop at the Wegman's in Hanover Twp., and the prices are better than those at Giant on most things. Only problem is Giant is closer to me (West Bethlehem) than Wegman's, so I go to Giant when I need a few things. I used to shop Weis/King's (Westgate Mall) but that store is absolutely filthy and terribly understaffed. I was so happy when Wegman's opened up!!

I'm surprised that the prices differ from store to store....do you shop in Allentown or Palmer Twp?

We shop at the Allentown location. It's right in the middle of very nice, VERY expensive new townhouses/houses and the people there don't mind paying more money for quality and convinience (I can't get over how many people in this area don't cook).

Wow, I was suprised how many people found Wegman's to be the same or less expensive than other grocery stores. That's sure not the case where I live. In fact, Wegman's is probably the most expensive grocery store in the area. Except for meat and produce, I shop at Walmart. I buy meat and produce at Price Chopper because the quality is good and there's always decent sales. There's a Wegman's about 10 minutes away in Johnson City, but I never go there unless there's something special that I can't find at the other stores.
