I can't imagine where I would even put the food if I spent $400 a week, and I have two pantries! :rotfl: What are you buying? Do you go without a list? Do you throw a lot of stuff away? I'm not being critical, I'm just amazed both by the totals and your budgets!

We eat really well and have a lot of fresh, healthy stuff. For example, we had a green salad with mandarin oranges, dried cranberries and walnuts and homemade vegetable beef soup for dinner. I made chicken salad with grocery store rotisserie chicken, celery, red grapes, apples and walnuts while the soup was cooking. We had a fresh pineapple this morning. It would be really rare for me to spend over $150 a week, though, and I often spend less than $100.

We are a family of 6, 3 boys ages 4,6,10 one daughter age 8, then DH and myself and we are at 150-170 a week for food and all the other household stuff. I thought that was ALLOT until I saw other's spend 400 a week! We don't even eat out except maybe 1 time ever other month, and we try to keep that to just DH and me :rotfl: I guess I am cheap!! :lmao: I always use a list, and I don't even use coupons, too lazy for that!

I spend between 200 and 250 a week for 5 of us...We eat very well. I could get it lower if I had to and at lean times I really have.

No beer or wine sold in grocery stores here in MD! That helps with keeping the "grocery bill" down. :teeth:

i complain about that all the time, but i suppose that is a positive! :teeth:

Yikes!! I guess we do spend a lot!! I put $200-250 for the three of us, and that does not include household goods.

However....I only buy organic foods.....so, chicken is almost $10 per pound, beef goes from $7-30 per pound, and fruits and veggies are much higher (my last quart of strawberries was $8). I think the last pound of rice I bought was $5. My spaghetti sauce was $5, and my pasta (organic brown rice pasta) was over $5 per bag. The organic fruit snacks are $5 for a box of 8. My dd and dh eat some frozen dinners that are organic, at $6.49 each. And, I buy my dd one box of cookies and 1/2 a lemon tea cake each week, which totals $10. Then add organic milk, eggs and cheese...and it all really adds up. Oh...and then we add the wine!!

I count myself lucky if I get out of Whole Foods paying less than $250. Then, I go to Kroger to get tortillas (the yummy kind that are made fresh daily), as well as salsa.

Then, I have to do my monthly trek to Walmart for household goods...that's usually around $300, and I don't buy any food there!!

It really stinks that eating healthy is SOOOO expensive!!!
