I noticed the room rate at RPR is quite high for January 6th. Is there something going on at Universal? Do I really need a front of line pass in January?
We stay at RPR when we go in the spring, but the rate for Jan 6 seems excessively high.

That is about the standard rate for RPR...for non-peak and non-low season rates. No experience with crowds in January, but crowd calendar shows as busy for that weekend. There are no APH rates listed for January, yet, so I don't know what they may look like. I would say, if you usually stay at RPR (which is awesome), stay with that and enjoy the EPs.

We were there Jan 18-23 this year. Touring plans had the crowds as 2/10-4/10 depending on the day/park. We found the parks much more crowded than anticipated. Transformers was 90m at one point. Kong was 108m.

We had debated Cabana Bay vs Royal Pacific because CB was $50/night cheaper. We are so glad we stayed at Royal Pacific for the Express Passes. That $300 was the best money spent. We got everything done (some rides multiple times!)

I was skeptical, but we won't go back without the Express Passes
