I'm looking for advice. We will be arriving on Friday May 14th in the morning. First, what can we do on that Friday late afternoon to evening. I'm planning on buying a 3 day hopper plus pass from Alamo so I do not want to use a day on the pass for just an afternoon and evening. I was thinking about a character dinner (I'll be traveling with DH, DS(9) and DD(7). Or just hanging out at the hotel (we're staying at the Orlando World Center). Or both. Are there any types of fireworks that night? (and can you see them from the World Center?) Second, what will be the best (by that I mean least crowded!) park to visit on either Saturday or Sunday? We really do not have to go to a park on the weekend but I'm afraid we will be too excited not to. Thanks in advance for your help.:D

There are so many "non-park" things to do at Disney.
Rent a pontoon boat from Poly, GF or WL and cruise the lake in mid-afternoon.

Get dinner PS at a restaurant in Boardwalk or Yatch Club area. Eat dinner, then ejoy great nightlife on the boardwalk. Go to Beaches and Cream for a scoop of ice-cream.

Eat dinner at the Poly, then go out to the boat docks and watch the fireworks at MK from across the lake. (stay for the electric light water parade too.)

There's always Downtown disney with lots to do as well.

Mostly, just have fun and remember you are in the happiest place on earth!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

"Are there any types of fireworks that night? (and can you see them from the World Center?)"

Both Wishes, at the Magic Kingdom, and Illuminations, at Epcot, should be shown every night. Unfortunately, I don't think either can be be seen from the World Center. A good option might be to have dinner at one of the Disney monorail resorts and watch the fireworks from there. Both the Polynesian and the Contemporary have good viewing spots. I'm not sure if the Grand Floridian has as good a view (it might - I just don't know).

"Second, what will be the best (by that I mean least crowded!) park to visit on either Saturday or Sunday?"

Avoid the Magic Kingdom on Saturday morning - that is generally when it is busiest. Spectromagic is probably showing Saturday night, and you could park-hop to see it, but it may be showing on other nights (probably Tuesday) during your trip, and it would then be less crowded.

Sunday is also not good for off-sight guests at the Magic Kingdom - that is one of the early entry days for those staying at a Disney resort.

MGM is probably not a good idea on the weekends in May unless you are a big Star Wars fan.

The Animal Kingdom would be a great option for Saturday. Epcot is probably a really good option on either Saturday or Sunday.
