I bought into SSR in December (250pt) I would like to stay for 11 days early december. I don't have enough points unless I pay cash for Friday or Saturday. Will I alway's be able to pay cash(even if no member discount) or should I purchase extra points. I would alway's stay the 11 days when I visit in december.
Thanks, Susan

Will you always be able to pay cash for the weekends? Yes, probably, IMHO. SSR will be a large resort when it's complete and many members will use their points for non-DVC options. That means CRO will have rooms ro rent for cash. Will there always be discounts? Probably not.

That said, if you know you will want to stay every December for 11 days, my advice is to buy enough points to cover it (assuming you can afford it). Rack rates will continue to rise and eventually you'll be glad not to have to pay them. Point stays will not increase. (There's more to this than that simple statement, but it's basically true). Also, if you book a stay for cash with CRO and combine it with a points stay, it is possible that you will have to change rooms. The DVC and CRO reservation systems do not talk to each other.

I must disclose that I have a bias against moving/changing resorts during my stay. It's just too much of a hassle for me and I don't like being without a room during the better part of the day. I would never even consider it if I were traveling wit samll children. But that's me, LOL. We occasionally spend the first weekend elsewhere if we want to visit non-Disney attractions during our stay.

Best wishes -

Carol,

I agree about moving. One of trips required moving twice during a 3 week stay. It was nice to try someplace new (like a contempory top floor MK view)... but we concluded that we would not schedule room/resort changes by choice again.

Day of arrival might be an exception if we were arriving late. In that case, we would pack a small carry-on bag and keep the rest of the luggage packed.

Late arrival on first day (especially if it is on a Friday or Saturday) is often an exception for us, too. There are several relatively inexpensive hotels/motels near the airport that work for us.

Also, remember that you can borrow from the next use year if you need to, but then you will be in deficit mode for the next trip. It sounds like you could use a few more points if this is your usual routine.

Thanks for your response's. I don't plan on moving. I have an adult H/A son so moving isn't an option once we are settled in. I guess I'm more concerned about our first stay 12/05 i'm hoping to hold back on purchasing points this year but will if it's the best thing to do. I'm allready borrowing points for other family members to come along. They would pay cash for their friday and saturday stay in their room. My concern would be that I would be told no cash night's available, whether through cro or MS. Then my vacation would be cut short:earseek: . I currently could purchase 50 more points if needed. Another question: if paying cash for points can I purchase as little as 25pts at a time?
Thank's Susan

Yes, 25 is the minimum for cash\credit card, 50 if Disney financed
