Can someone who's been during the week in May, tell me about the crowds and planning? We've only been at non-school times. Do we need to plan on an early start for waterparks, like usual? Do we need to plan around EE? Are meal strategies as important?

Early to mid May is a great time to go - schools are not out yet for summer - we went this year and the crowds were quite low and the lineups were very fast to almost non-existent - used FP's but that was more for planning purposes as opposed to really needing them - the weather is starting to get hot with humidity around mid-May

With respect to waterparks, I recommed an early start if only to secure a good spot - we went to TL in May and the weather was fabulous

I would not get too hung up on meal strategies such as PS unless there is a very specific time and restaurant experience you want then a PS is always a good idea

thanks

We've gone the first or second week of May the past 4 years. Crowds were low to moderate, not a problem. Weather is in the low 90's but very little rain. We never worried about PS's except for Mother's Day.

The crowds are fairly low and the weather is beautiful! :) I think one of the longer lines I saw was for Peter Pan which was maybe 30 mins ... but then other rides like Splash Mountain were a walk-on. If you use FPs, you'll be able to get onto all the rides with practically no lines :)

Most public schools get out here in Florida May 21st (GEORGIA also) and our Florida Resident Seasonal Passes blackout dates start June 12th so local and fla residents will be going during that time period. The crowds really start building after Memorial Day week-end.

For me meal strategies are always important I like knowing I have a PS and can start my planning around that. (We usually have a large group)

Early start for waterparks are always recommended.

Do we need to plan around EE? By arriving at Parks early and being able to see more in less time, you will have more free afternoon time to enjoy your Resort.

Have a Great Trip!:earsboy:

Hubby and I always visit Disney the third week of May in celebration of our anniversary on the 22nd. We are usually there though the Memorial Day Weekend, and that's when the parks get VERY busy. However, we utilize FP and had very short to non existant lines. :teeth:
The weather does get hot and sometimes very humid, but I'm from FL, so I'm used to it. Does it rain... :umbrella: sure it does, but it's only for moments at a time. Our last trip was for 9 days and 8 nights and we had about 15 minutes of rain on our anniversary night right before Illuminations at EPCOT. It stopped about 5 minutes before the show. ::yes:: There was no more rain after that!

We had a PS everyday we were there. When we chose not to use it, we just cancelled it, as easy as that. I felt better knowing it was there, than walking into a restaurant and hearing there's an hour wait or longer.
You'll enjoy yourself in May, it's a WONDERFUL time to visit Disney!! HAVE FUN!!!!

Our (DH and I, no kids) favorite time to visit is early May or early Sept, just before or after schools get out. Our next trip is scheduled for May 2-12. I'm anticipating (e.i. counting on!) low crowds again as we have had before during that time.
