Hi, we are visiting DL from Australia from the 17th to 24th November....I am a little worried though as this is the week prior to Thanksgiving (I think). We could come a little earlier in November however we want to catch some of the Christmas parades which I assume may start around the 21st of November ??? What do you all think, come earlier and miss the xmas festivities and have a quieter park or come at the time we planned and enjoy some of the xmas stuff with it being a bit busier??

Also, we are thinking of staying at the Ho Jo...I have heard there are entertainment rates but how do we go about getting these in Australia?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

daisy, the ent. rate works for Aussies too. You need an Entertainment card - which comes in the Ent. book. You can get the book for any area that you want - even your local area if it has coupons you would use. Or, you can go on ebay and just buy the Ent. card for around $5 US.

Check the HoJo Ent. rate calendar Here http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14. It appears all of your dates are still available. I would call soon and make your reservations since the dates can go fast. You don't have to pay a deposit or anything for the HoJo, so if you need to change your dates or cancel altogether, you can up to 48 hours in advance. :)

Thanksgiving is the 26th so the weekend before could start to get busy. You would probably have the least busy days starting the 17th through the Fri. morning. After that it will probably get busy because people love to see the parades and the decorations. So, I would guess that your vacation would be partly really busy and partly not so busy. :confused3

The week before Thanksgiving is one of the slowest weeks of the year! We used to do that week every year, but now we do the Disney cruise in the fall, so we go to the parks in the Spring. It should be very slow the 17-20 and then pick up after that. Have fun!:thumbsup2

My sister and I went the weekend before Thanksgiving last year (2008) and stayed until Tues, 2 days before Thanksgiving. It was wonderful! There were crowds, but nothing as bad as what we experienced in mid-October. As it got closer to Thanskgiving, it got progressively more crowded. I was surprised that the weekend was actually less busy than the days closer to Thanksgiving. I hope to do it again this year, as the Christmas decorations and festivities were spectacular!

We have gone the week before Thanksgiving for the past few years and it has been wonderful! Great weather, low crowds and all the holiday decorations! You will love it! :thumbsup2
