Is anyone planning on going that week this year? Was anyone there last year at that time? IF so, can you give me a report on crowds, security and especially weather. We were there the week of the attacks and are very concerned about going that time this year, however, it's the only time I have available and would really like to have a good time.

Thanks

We're going that week. We arrive at WDW on the morning of Sept 9, 2003. We were there once in the early 90's for Labor Day weekend. I remember the weather being very much the same as August, but after the holiday weekend the crowds were low.

I will be there that week also. Wondering the same thing about the crowds myself.

I'll be there that week too. I was there a week later than that last year and the crowds were non-existent. I did pretty much all of MK before 2 pm on a Friday (granted, I was travelling alone). I imagine their might be a slight increase over last year, just due to the FTP, but I don't expect anything too large. School will have just started 1-3 weeks before. Most parents aren't going to take their kids out that early in the school year.

The weather last year was hot, but not unbareable. What I mostly remember about the weather was the rain. It rained every day, usually between 5 and 7. One night there was a torential downpour that lasted all night. But you just throw on a poncho and you're fine. I do worry a little about hurricanes, but again, that's what the ponchos are for. And I'd rather be at Disney during bad weather than at work during good weather.

I really don't worry too much about the rain, that's all we've had here in TN too!

I haven't been there during this time before, but I was hopeing that because classes are just starting, the crowds won't be too bad.

We were there last year Sept 2-8th. Not exactly the week you are asking for - but almost! Actually we arrived in Orlando on August 31st, but were at Universal for the first couple of days.

Sept 2nd was Labor Day last year, so I would actually expect that the crowds might be heavier the week before you arrive and there was almost no one there.

It was wonderful crowd-wise! I always recommend to avoid MK on Mondays and Saturdays, but besides that you shouldn't have to worry about anything! I don't recall waiting in line for anything. There were several things closed for rehab: Haunted Mansion, Crystal Palace, two or three areas in EPCOT. Also they were painting the palace. There was a huge crane beside it and it would be in any pictures. BUT! They lower it briefly every afternoon to let the workers off and just snap your pictures then - that is what we did.

We had an angel flying over Orlando for the weather. It wasn't nearly as hot as it should've been. There was a tropical storm parked out over the Atlantic and it brought cooler weather, but it didn't move in until after we left - so not much rain. I remember one shower and one sprinkling.:bounce:

I'm not sure what to tell you about security. They checked bags going into every park, but it wasn't overwhelming.

You will enjoy it!

We'll be there that same week also! Can't wait!

The rain isn't something that bothers me - it has been raining here in TN and flooding everything, and I still ventured out. As long as there isn't lightning, a little rain ins't going to stop me!!

Except for our honeymoon, we have only gone during the summer. The crowds have never bothered me, so this trip ought to a pleasant surprise. I can't wait!!

We'll be there that week too. We went last year at the end of the month and were able to do fantasyland and toontown before 11am. We finished the rest later that afternoon between 3-6 and left the park for the day. We were amazed at the lack of crowds. No line at all for Space Mtn. even. The weather was in the 80s and very humid. Quick afternoon shower. Typical weather for us here in Florida but it was still hot even for me.
