Hey everyone!!! I live in Massachusetts so I was wondering what it is like in Florida. We will be there September 2nd through the 8th, which that Monday is Labor Day. Do kids there already go back to school in August, or is it like up here where a lot don't start until after labor day? Just wondering what kind of crowds we may see for that week also! Thanks for any advice!

Hi Julie,
We are from Massachusetts also. Congratulations on your Disneymoon at CSR. We are planning our first family trip in October 2012 and staying at CSR as well. We can't wait! I do believe that Florida schools start before ours do around mid August. I have heard September and October are good months to go in terms of crowds.

Have a great time and Congrats again

I am from Hingham, originally, but have been down here for a while. We were there last year, and booked a bounceback for Sep 04-10, which was great because we got the free dining.

Here is the crowd calendar that we use..

It has not been updated for 2012 yet, but any day now. If you are like me and are on a constant quest for how you can do it better, and cheaper, go to that link and look at the photos that were posted for that time period last year. The week after laborday is the BEST. Hot, yes, but the parks are as empty as they get. 1s and 2s and 3s..... anything above a 4 gives my husband hives!

We were able to walk on rides.... I am talking Toy Story mania over and over and over again!

Congrats, and enjoy!

That is great news! We have a couple friends who actually went on their honeymoon in September as well, but this was about 6 years ago so we were not sure if we would have the same results as they did. With this being future DH's first time, I really want him to experience everything he wants :) The only time I have gone was during Spring Break week in March a couple years ago. They crowds were a little high to me, but nothing that I had not expected. I am curious to see the difference for our upcoming trip!

Thanks so much :) Hope you have an amazing time too!! If scheduling had allowed it we would have waited to go in October as well so DH could have seen all the Halloween things, but September just worked best.

We always go in September, the weather is hot but the crowds are low. I think the Halloween party is starting early this year so you might be luck with that with your dates.

Have a great trip.

We've been going the week of LD weekend and the week after for a few years now, and the crowds are great! (We've never been able to ride TSM over and over without a wait, but still great.) I will say it is pretty darn hot.

Also, someone else mentioned the MNSSHP, didn't want you to get your hopes up, but since Night of Joy has gone back over to MK, MNSSHP hasn't been starting until the 2nd full week of Sept. the last couple of years, so you'll miss it with your dates. Also, 9/7 &9/8 will be Night of Joy nights at MK, so MK will close to regular guests (guests not attending the hard ticket event) at 7, and there won't be Wishes those 2 nights, just to give you a little heads up.

I am okay with the hot, New England summers= HHH. Hazy, hot, and humid!! Love that everyone is saying low crowds!

That is okay about MNSSHP! If they maybe have some decorations up that would be great, I would like to go back within the next couple years around that time to be able to go to it. Since he has never gone, it will be nice for the low crowds so we can try to experience everything possible! Plus, I only went once and I don't think I enjoyed it as much as I could have since I went with my ex, who made it a not so fun trip at the time! This time around should be MUUUUCH better :lovestruc

We've been to WDW in early September a couple of times in the past 5 years. Yes, it is going to be hot and humid then. Think of the worst July/August day in MA and that's likely what you'll have. And then there are hurricanes. Sound like gloom and doom? Not really. After all it is WDW!

The best way to deal with this is to hit the parks early, leave by noon to spend mid-day back at the pool or air-conditioned hotel room and then venture out again in the evening. While in the parks, drink plenty of water (not soft drinks, not coffee, just plain water). Take frequent "short-cuts" through air-conditioned gift shops. Seek out those attractions with covered or inside queues during the worst of times.

I'm ready for the heat!! I guess the good thing is we are so used to that weather over the summer, that it will be like nothing new! Even with hurricanes, we are away from bills, work, stress for a week! I'll take it.

Sounds like a good plan. We do the water park and more option as well. Do the water parks get really big crowds there? Maybe like how six flags gets during the summer? Or are they not that bad?
