What is going on the week of Oct. 6th that is causing nearly everything to be totally booked?? Easter was crazy busy, and there were more rooms available than this! There's far more available the next week, so I know it's not just F&WF. We've gone to WDW many, many times around these dates and have never encountered resorts this full!

Columbus Day holiday, fall breaks for schools and (the biggie) the Gartner Conference.

What I am finding in terms of reservations is the partial week is open. All of the mods are open Sat-Wed, then only PORR is left Thurs-Sat. On the flip side, AKL is full through Wed, but opens up Thursday.

We settled on POFQ Fri-Thu, AKL Thu-Sat. The Values had open availability all week.

Is that conference that week every year? because I really want to go next year for my birthday oct 8

We were in DW the last 2 years and both times it was during the Gartner Symposium week. Last year it was the week of Oct 21 and in 2011 it was the week of Oct 16.

Nope, it changes weeks most years but is usually sometime in October.
