Week of July 4 - is it really busy?

We're thinking about taking some time to travel to Disney around July 4 week, is it really very busy because of Independence Day? Here in Canada it is our National Holiday on July 1 so time off is perfect.

Or should we do it another time. thanks for opinions.

July 4 falls on a Monday this year, so you can expect it to be extremely busy from Thursday, June 30 through Monday, July 4. Beginning on July 5, crowds will drop off quite a bit, and will go back to "normal" summer crowds.

You can expect MK to close at capacity on July 2, 3 and 4. Epcot will be shoulder-to-shoulder after dusk, as fireworks times approach. MGM will likely close at capacity -- or get really close to that -- on July 2 and 3. DAK will be very crowded, but is not likely to close.

I went down to WDW July 4th several years ago when July 4th was on a Tuesday. I went the prior Fri until that Tues and, yes, it was packed. But I didn't mind too much b/c I'm not a commando Disney'r. So I guess my questions for you are:

Can you handle the heat?
Do you have other less crowded options?
How badly do you want to go?
