Do I understand the the week of Columbus Day is one of the busier weeks in October? I do know that there is not a slow time in October, but thought I read that lots of schools had that week off.

in ky were are out 6-10th. the week before columbus day. we aren't out for that day nor have we ever in my memory.

Thanksgiving Day in Canada is observed on the same day as Columbus Day in the U.S. (the second Monday of October), so many Canadians also tend to visit WDW during that week.

All Minnesota schools have the Thursday and Friday following Columbus Day off.

I have friends that went that week last year, as it coincides with our fall break. They typically visit during the first 2 weeks of December, and said that it was really crowded on their October trip. I know that a lot of schools get a fall break, and it seems to be around that time.

I had been wringing my hands over the crowds in October-we are going 4-11th. In the past when we visited in October, it was wonderful (NOT crowded at all!!!) That being said, I have completely let go of my fears for this trip/date. If TP say it is a non peak time, then I will not worry about it until I see the crowds with my own eyes.

PLEASE, PLEASE, don't let me be wrong!!!!

We'll be visiting Oct. 11-17, the week of our fall break in middle TN

It depends on when schools have holiday breaks & teacher conferences. I think some of the european countries have school breaks around then so there are a lot of foriegn tourists. It is also F & W Festival at EPCOT for 6 weeks Sept-Nov so EPCOT is crowded every weekend more noticably on holiday weekends. Also a lot of schools have teacher conferences around Election Day/Veterans Day so many families plan a Halloween trip for the end of Oct/ early Nov incorporating those holidays

We are travelling on the 11th October from the UK for three weeks the third week of our trip been half term to us in the UK.

I have family whom have stayed at WDW every October for the past four years and say it's a fantastic time to visit.

Personnally, is there really a better time to go now a days

The last time we visited it was late January and it was freezing, literally freezing, I gave in after 5 days and bought a scarf and gloves. The plus side was that there was not a queue in sight, every ride we walked on and off.

This October I'm hoping for good weather and so what if it's slightly more crowded I out of control excited 169 days to go and counting

Our fall break is always the week of Columbus Day. We get the entire week off. I don't find the crowds so bad relative to the busy weeks at WDW.

When does your school year begin/end? Just curious because here in NJ we have only been in school for a month by the time Columbus Day rolls around...so no break for us. Also, when is your yearly Teachers Convention held?

My wife and I were in Disney in 07 during Columbus Day weekend for Food & Wine Festival and the weekdays were fine but weekends were crowded. It also was in the high 80's and beautiful!!!

Spring Break is around the same time as Easter. The end of the year is the Tuesday before Memorial Day.

Our Fall Break is Thu/Oct 23 and Fri/Oct 24.

Last day of school is June 3
First day of school is August 13
