We are planning a trip to DW Feb 10-17, the week before President's Week. But after looking at the touringplans.com crowd chart, that week is all 7's and 8's on the 1-10 crowded scale. :confused3 I'm worried! Anyone know what might contribute to such a high number for that week?
I understand that the crowds pick up as the holiday weekend approaches, but what accounts for the crowds the week before? Should I change my dates to late January? I'd really like to avoid the crowds as much as possible.

It may have something to do with all of the school vacation weeks in New England. That's when my parents always took us.

I'm not sure about the crowd prediction level, but we were at MK the Thursday before Presidents' Day last year and we didn't think it was that bad. At the time my youngest DS was 22 months. He loved Dumbo. His pure enthusiasm made us ride it three times. The longest we waited was 15-20 minutes and that is for a very slow loading ride! Using Fastpasses we got on most other rides/attractions pretty quickly. I think Buzz Lightyear was our longest wait and that was about 20-25 minutes and the only reason we waited that long was they were having trouble with the Fastpass machines at Buzz. The weather was beautiful, 70-75 degrees and pure blue sky. I thought it was a perfect time to escape from a cold, snowy winter here. Best of luck with your planning!

It's not the NE vacation schedule. I live in NH and work in MA. Most kids have Presidents' Week off from Feb. 20-24. Don't know why the predictions are so high. There's nothing below a 4 on the touring plans...so maybe a 7 is really a 3 now??? I can't really figure it out.

Thank you all for the responses. I guess I shouldn't get too wrapped up with the numbers. At least I know it won't be HOT, so that will make any crowds easier to manage. :flower:

Along with being President's Week, the Daytona 500 is 2/20. We went this year and did Wed/Wed. The race attracts over 175,000 people and lots do Disney with the 500, like we did.
It was crowded the entire time we were there. I mean 90+ minutes for each attraction. We used fast passes when we could. We usually go in Sept, Oct or early Dec and decided February wasn't for us. Too many people for our taste. Without having kids, we can go when they are all in school.

jkfreeman-
Thanks for your response. Did you start your trip the Wed before Pres Week? When did you notice crowds starting to pick up? We were thinking we would go Feb 10-17, so Thursday before Pres Day/Daytona weekend would be our last park day. I can understand why Pres Week and Daytona would affect crowds probaby starting Friday, but I was hoping it wouldn't have much influence the week before.

Thanks again :)
