Hello all , I have heard that the week before Easter is usually a horror show relating to crowds. We are looking for Opptys to go since our usual summer trip in 2020 had to be cancelled. What do you all think week before Easter 2021 will bring? This would involve a March 27th arrival , depart Easter Sunday. I’ve been trying to convince myself this year will be different:
1) some form of capacity controls
2) huge discounts onsite resort rooms
3) some AP blackouts

it’s either this week or summer 2021 , really would like to go sooner , but crowds worry me a bit

Would also like to get opinions. Our kids spring break was moved to the week right after Easter...I know the two weeks around Easter are some of the most crowded times typi ally, but we are considering going depending on how COViD is doing and if my husband has received the vaccine by then. We cancelled two trips last year and are really hoping to go in spring. We will not go if they drop the mask requirement (I think they will remain in place).

It will be really interesting to see how "spring break" time plays out at WDW in 2021. In normal times, this is a really busy time because this is when kids aren't in school. But this year, with so much distance-learning going on, some people that are doing distance-learning are able to go to WDW outside of the normal spring-break time. We've been to WDW a couple of times since they re-opened and we heard a lot of people talking that their kids were distance-learning, so they took the opportunity to go to WDW during a quieter time.

historically the week before easter is one of the most crowded times of year, and I think March/April will be a tipping point as to who starts getting access to vaccines (depending on your state).

I think this year anything goes and it's so hard to predict what will happen. I would imagine by that time, at least some people will have been vaccinated and so there might be more optimism and less restrictions in terms of travel. I would hope for low crowds but prepare for moderate crowds just in case!

I also find it interesting that people could be doing distance learning while at WDW. For my kids, they have multiple Zoom meetings and some independent work, but there is lots of teacher engagement throughout the school day. Not sure how that would ever work while at the parks! Maybe it's different for others, but I can't imagine trying to do distance learning at WDW.

Distance learning for public schools is horrid in our metro. There is no interaction with teachers at all. Assignments are uploaded to Canvas and parents are the teachers. There is no actual teaching done on distance learning days - very easy to go on vacation. The way our district handles it specifically, you only have to login each day to not get counted absent. You can submit assignments all in one day. We know a lot of families that have gone/are going to WDW as they can easily get all the work submitted in one day, then just login each day of the trip for attendance credit.

I’m guessing park capacity will still be restricted then. A lot of schools have changed up their calendars and aren’t giving a full week of spring break in the spring as they are spreading out break days instead. I think the big key to the crowds though will be based on Disney’s rules, not that it’s the week before Easter.

I teach.

the Friday before Thanksgiving break, 3 of my Kindergarteners zoomed from hotel rooms in Hawaii. One from a cabin in a national park.

a lot from Grandma's house too. It's... interesting

I would expect the parks to be at capacity (whatever that number is) those weeks

We are going the week after Easter...never been that time of year. do the crowds typically slow down after Easter?

A lot of threads are asking about crowds. What does that mean to you? We use to discuss crowds on these boards b/c crowds= waits. With covid, crowds=risk. Wait times are currently, and always will be, about the same. If you are concerned with crowds from a health risk, I would stay away. If you are concerned with crowds b/c of wait times, I would go.

We resched from Aug to week after Xmas (should be our first full day today) but canceled instead for the week before Easter. I'm hoping the crowds will be at least slightly better then, plus hoping they add fastpass...APs.. and more available dining.

1) some form of capacity controls Yes there will still likely be capacity limits however this will still be a busy time but no where near the crowd levels of previous Spring breaks. If the current WDW status quo is in place with no real shows and major entertainment, then guests have only dining, shopping and attractions to keep them busy. So even though right now park attendance is limited to 35%, it can still appear to be fairly busy with the absence of other activities for guests to have to keep them busy. Will it be busy like spring breaks of prior years, I would imagine no, but it's a holiday so it still will have some general crowding more so than off times.
2) huge discounts onsite resort rooms that's yet to be seen. we have seen some good AP and visa discounts. Think the visa deal expires by February, I'm sure some discounts will be rolled out but not anything I'd consider huge but I guess huge is a relative term. I think it's been 30-35% max off rack rate from what I've seen as of late.
3) some AP blackouts possible given what we saw when the park reservation system opened up earlier this year.

Ww always pick summer over March/April due to crowds. We'll be going again in early February and looking forward to fairly lighter crowds than what's been seen over the holidays.
