Week Before Christmas

Hello Everyone:

We are contemplating purchasing into the DVC at Saratoga Springs ASAP - with the goal of being able to use our DVC membership to vacation in DW the week before Christmas Dec 18-23.

The problem is -- through the DVC resale process -- if we were to purchase this coming week, our membership will not be activated/valid to possibly as late as the first week in August.

In trying to gain whatever information that I could directly from Disney -- I am hearing that since that week is very popular, I may have trouble finding a DVC Studio Room for that period.

We would be glad to stay in a Studio Room at any of the Various Resorts - Saratoga Springs, AK, etc. I do see where trying to stay in Bay Towers would certainly be a problem -- but would early August be too late to book for this week?

Most member who are going that week have reserved at 11 months(I did) at their home resort. I was able to change from OKW to AKLV at 7 months on wed for week after xmas 12/26-12/30/10, but I am doubtful of availability in August. The potential possibilites would probably be OKW or SSR....very doubtful for BCV, VWL,BLT, BWV though. You can always waitlist and people plans do change. Good luck

Unless you are a member, you would not be able to talk to anyone regarding DVC member inventory. If you called the Disney reservation line and asked, the inventory they have is different than what you will be able to book on points.

Buying now via resale in hopes of using it during the holidays is going to be very difficult.

Even if you do find a studio during that week, you may find yourself having to change resorts.

If you buy via resale, I would "manage" expecations about what you "can" get. I just got my points this morning loaded into the sytem today (just bought via resale). My travel dates are similar to yours (12/19 to 12/22). Availability for what I *want* is low to non existent. We may be doing split stays or simply moving to whatever becomes available. Still excited though, but I can't imagine what the availability will look like all the way in August. Good luck!
