Week Before Christmas- Where Might I get at 7 months out?

I think I'm going to take the boys down for the week before Christmas since the points are so low. But, I figure everyone else has the same idea! Our home is SSR, which will be fine if it's all we can get. However, I'd like to try somewhere else. Where do you think will be available at 7 months out? I'd love BWV or BLT, but I know not to get my hopes up! Just thinking and dreaming...

all of december is a peak period for DVC reservations...i hope you have already made reservations at SSR.

but you never know what will be available...anything is possible and it's important to be flexible. BLT-lake view and BWV-preferred view (nonboardwalk) are the most likely to be available at the resorts you mentioned...good luck.

I hope that you have already booked SSR live the previous poster mentioned. I have found that December can be very difficult to book even at the 11 month window. about 2 years ago, I started booking at the 11 month window and had problem with availability. I then tried to move it at 7 months to split my stay between BCV & BWV (AKV was my home resort). I started off with a split stay between OKW & SSR because neither had all nights available (neither did AKV). Then I ended up getting some nights (this was in the day by day waitlist times) at BCV & BWV but I ended up splitting between 3 resorts with SSR in the middle.

On the positive side, the following year, I was able to book AKV at the 11 month window for my entire stay.

BLT is our home resort. I tried to book last month for last week of Dec since our Oct trip is cancelled. Nothing available for 1BR.

Last year we were fortunate to get AKL Jambo at 6 months for week before Christmas. It was beautiful!
This year we booked BLT at 11 months, and may try to move somewhere else at 7 months.

Well, I am just now playing around with going that week, so I haven't booked yet. Guess I need to decide now and book at SSR. Also, if it helps, I will book a 2BR and am fine with moving or whatever needs to be done. Guess I better get to deciding!! lol- thanks for the push guys! I always book 11 mos out, but just had yet to decide when our next trip would be. DH doesn't want to use his other vacation week for Disney this year, so it'll be just me and the boys. Thinking we will just to lots of looking and not so much riding.

We became DVC members about this time last year. In early April I booked a 1BR at OKW for the week before Christmas. Then in May, about a week after the seven month window had opened for our dates, I decided to switched to a 2BR (still at OKW). We wanted to stay at OKW so I did not check any other resorts for that week and can't tell you what else was available. Five of our nights were in the low point season and two were in the most expensive season.

I would book your home resort now to make sure you have something and then try to switch at 7 months. You can always wait list if nothing else is available. I'm guessing that I would have had more trouble booking BLT or BWV for our Christmas trip. I would definitely be on the phone right at the seven month mark.

I've always had to book one of my homes for December. I've read too many threads of folks not having much luck at the 7 month window for December.

I've gone twice in the week before Christmas -- 2007 and 2009 -- and had no problem booking at the 7-month both times at BCV. I think the DVCs fill up the first half of December but have room the week before Christmas because people are finishing up their Christmas plans. I would recommend either BCV or BWV because they both have gingerbread displays in the lobbies and are walking distance from Epcot and the Walk of Nations. My home resort is also SSR. I recommend getting a room now at SSR and then calling at the 7 month mark to switch (or waitlist).

We stayed at Kidani Village last Dec week before xmas. We own at BLT and had no problem getting AKV 1BDR at 7 months. It actually was a wonderful surprise. We were able to snag a savanna view without even waitlisting.

No problem getting AKV at 7 months out a few years ago. This was for Xmas week Dec. 20-26.

We've found that over the last 2-3 yrs. that Dec. became harder to be selective .We love OKW and we own there and have been booking @ the 11 month window without a problem.

In September 2009 I booked a 1 bedroom at OKW for December 19-26, 2009. About three months out. Not sure If you will have that kind of luck, but here's hoping

Have gone to wdw last 5 xmas weeks and made my home resort reservations at 11 months at OKW. Last yeat we were able to get AKLV Jambo savannah view at 7months. We has tried the 2 years before, but waitlisted and did not get it. We love OKW, so no problem, but we were really surprised last year..loved AKLV!
