Week before Christmas at 7 months??

We have always vacationed in January, but DS starts Kindergarten this year and DH says no more missing a week of school.
We bought a SSR resale this past Fall and are open to staying there (haven't yet!). Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on whether there would be availability at any of the other resorts the week BEFORE Christmas (like the 18th-22nd) at 7 months out?? We've never stayed this time of year so I have no idea what to expect. If not, I can just book SSR - It's Disney - I can stay anywhere and be happy

Depending on the size of accomodations that you want, and if you call right at 7 months, I guess that you may get something other than SSR. Right at 7 months if you go on a waitlist, it may come through, too.

People are having luck with getting BWV and BCV during Food and Wine this year. I imagine that the week before Christmas may have some openings for you

Op - Make the reservation at your home resort now (if you haven't already). Call as soon as the 7 month window opens and don't be afraid to waitlist if your choice isn't available. Since you have to waitlist for the entire trip, you have nothing to lose if the waitlist doesn't work and you end up at your home resort.

We have gone xmas week for the last 5 years and made home resort (OKW) at 11 months out with no problem. The last 2 years we waitlisted AKL villas @ 7 months for that time and did not get it. I think SSR may be fine, but when we waitlisted AKL, we checked BCV, VWL and BLT and nothing was available, but only waitlised AKL villas. That's a very popular week if it includes Xmas eve or xmas day( or NYE after xmas). Its not an impossibilty and if you ar ok with SSR, then I think that would be a posssibility. good luck.
