I need some help. My friend is planning her first trip EVER for NEXT December. I want to find a good tread on her for helpful planning for a first visit. Any suggestions? She will have a 4 (almost 5 year old) and a 2.5 year old. She's super nervous about the trip. I have hooked her up with a great TA to help plan room, ADR and FP for her. Just needs some help with what to expect and what she really needs.

Sooooo tempting. I loved BOG dinner but we decided to try something new this year!

I think you're asking for a good *thread*? Might've been a typo, just wasn't sure. Anyway, I don't know about that but I really enjoyed reading through the website **************.net before we went the first time. He teamed up with Josh of easywdw to write a book that would probably also be helpful. I find books a little easier to wade through when I'm looking for really basic information, something to just get me started. After that, when I want more detail or opinions on a certain thing, I can go to a forum like disboards for that sort of thing.

Hi everyone! I just had an unexpected bonus (but cannot splurge) and I was thinking of taking my son down the week after Thanksgiving for a short trip 11/28-12/1. Hubby gave the green light since he hates flying. I've had no problem finding a cheap room as the sports was open, and although we are going to primarily do QS, we did want one nice table meal. I cannot find any dinner openings to ADR!! Is this due to the Free Dining or am I not preparing myself for enormous crowds? I thought the week after was typically slow but getting conflicting crowd calendars when I check sites. I don't want to book if my 2 1/2 days is going to be spent in hour long lines, unable to get a FastPass or a nice meal.

Alright, I've finally got everything scheduled for my trip to the World from the 27th to the 4th. As it stands right now, our plans are thus:

-Enchanted Tales with Belle - right after BLSRS (it's my friend's only MK must-do attraction)
-Frozen Holiday Wish - 6:30
-Characters? (Flynn/Rapunzel and Belle are our must-meets)
-Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration - 9:25 (In place by 9 so we have good spots for Fireworks as well)
-Holiday Wishes - 10 PM
-Parade - 11 PM
-Santa and Mickey, if line's not too long.

The last two days of our vacation are set aside to revisit 2 parks. MK will undoubtedly be one of them, but the second is up for debate at the moment. Any suggestions? I don't want to plan too heavily (other than the VMCP where every minute counts) as I don't want to stress over timing more than I already am.

Absolutely it is the free dining, also being less than 30 days out doesn't help. Just keep checking. You can also sign up for a touring plans account and use the reservation finder there.

Thanks so much. I haven't booked anything yet and wanted to make sure the crowds weren't going to be insane. I can pass up a table service in exchange for low crowds any day. It's been a few years since I've been there the week after (that used to be our only time we'd go). Most rides were walk on or at the most 30 minutes. But things change so I appreciate the feedback!

I'm a fan of the unofficial guide. There is just so much to learn when you are starting, and the book lays it all out. Then you can go online to get menus, ask specific question, watch videos, etc... But, in my opinion, a good guide book and the Disney DVD are the place to start.

We are going then too! We will get to the world on Friday 11/25 and stay at Pop for 2 nights and then move to the Boardwalk villasfrom 11/27-12/5. We are getting free dining too! It will be Me, DH, DD who is 2, my parents and brother. So excited!

We have 2 rooms at POP. Our 1st set shipped on the 30th from Memphis. On the 2nd they scanned in Bensenville, as of today they haven't showed any more movement.
Our 2nd room shipped out of FL on the 1st and arrived at our house on the 3rd.
Apparently some USPS sites need to get it together!

Thanks for sharing. I'll have to set the November shows to record since we leave the night of 11/24. I have already have a recording set for the keyword "Disney" so it might have caught it, but better safe than sorry. Hopefully I remember the December 25th one! That still seems so far away to me.

My parents' bands must also be hanging out with yours. We have separate rooms, so their bands ship separate from ours. Both shipped out on the 29th. Ours arrived to our PO on Mon the 31st and to my mailbox on Tues the 1st. My parents' are now hung up in York, PA, since 6:01 on Nov 3rd also!!! At least it makes me think that they're not lost forever, if they are keeping company with yours. Thank goodness it is their bands and not ours - my kids' heads would've exploded from the wait by now!!

Tipping housekeeping (if you plan to), tipping bell services and your DME driver if he helps with your bags, tipping any taxi drivers and/or Uber drivers if you plan to use those at all, umm.... You should have some cash on hand each day in case MDE goes down and MagicBands can't be used for charging. Sometimes even the credit card system crashes or is unavailable, so having enough cash on hand for a small meal is a good idea. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
