Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I spent way too long today working on some semblance of a touring plan for AK. My day is bisected by our afternoon lunch at Sanaa - everything is in the back of the park and trekking all the way to the bus and back is going to take a serious chunk out of my day. Not that I'm going to drop it, I've read way too many reviews about that bread service. :D But there's so much I want to see in AK, we missed out on a lot of it last time! Like the wildlife train and Rafiki's Planet Watch or whatever it is - is that worth going to see? How long does it take? I also want to see Nemo (missed it last time) and Lion King (saw it last time and it was awesome). What about the Flights of Wonder?

If you're primarily wanting the bread service, isn't there something similar at Tiffin's or the lounge next to it? Might be worth it not to leave the park in the middle of the day.

My plan does want it both ways, doesn’t it, lol. I want the bread service and I want to eat it too! Honestly it all looks good at Sanaa and I'm really looking forward to trying it out, though you do make a good point. One upside, the walk to the front of the park will counteract some of the calories from the meal, lol.

Rafikis planet watch is ok, we liked watching the vets perform surgery and the kids got to touch a snake. They wouldnt go near Rafiki though lol. The affection section is super underwhelming so don't go expecting too much. The train ride there and back was the highlight for the kids haha. We spent maybe 20-30 there before getting back on the train.

Flights of wonder was being refurbed - I'm excited to catch it this time! We did lion king which I adored but the kids were meh about (seriously my kids are the worst! :P)

We don't get them either.
I am required to have one for work. Passed policy couple years ago you would be sent home without pay until you are compliant. Funny thing is with a toddler I have managed to get the flu despite getting the flu shot every year. I will say that DD is quite miserable when she's sick. I get her a flu shot a. so I don't have to hear about it from every other healthcare worker I know and b. the off chance it does prevent her from getting the flu.
Last year every single one of us got sick as we were getting home from Disney. DD was sick for her bday and then again at Christmas.

My kids were meh about Lion King too but dangit they're going to suffer through it again, lol. Thanks for the info about the Rafiki thing, that is helpful. If I'm reading the schedule correctly we'll miss the surgery anyway so maybe I'll leave it off the official plan for now and see how it goes.

I've been having a lot more fun making plans on Touring Plans than I thought I would! It's really helpful to see it all laid out on the little map.

Poor thing, being sick on her birthday and Christmas is no fun. :( I hope it misses you guys this year.

My sons don't get sick all that often but DD seems to catch everything. Hopefully she can hold off with anything major until we get home.

Something so satisfying about seeing it all laid out :D

Hello my peeps! I've been awol again, but for good reason. Let's just run down my last month and a half, shall we?
-I spent all of September thinking I could possibly have breast cancer, but thankfully the biopsy was benign.:woohoo:

-Dh was in his very first wreck, and some old lady hit him/totaled my beloved, paid for car. Now we're back to two car payments. grrrrr

-oh, here's the worst. Dh fell off our roof two Saturdays ago.(During the hurricane! Our roof started leaking in two places, so he went up to throw a tarp across it until it could get fixed.) Spent 3 days in the hospital with two brain bleeds, a week missed from work, and he's still nowhere near normal. :( :( He went back to work yesterday, and it was hard for him physically and mentally. He has major brain fog at the moment. I really think he needs a lot more time off from work, but he won't listen. He's worried about bills, so off to work he goes. I am so thankful though, that he didn't get hurt any worse than he did. He fell 14 feet and didn't break anything! I do think it did something to his neck, but the doctors all said they didn't see anything.

Today's our 20th anniversary though. :love2:

Stressed doesn't even begin to describe how we all feel. Even the kids are stressed. :scared:

I know the big hospital bills are about to start rolling in, and I'm really going to find it hard to go to Disney and have fun. :crazy2: Being an adult just sucks sometimes. We won't cancel the trip though. It was part of my dd's birthday present, and it's our present to each other for our anniversary. It's going to be so tight financially though. This trip is what has gotten us through the last month. We did postpone the surprise beach trip I planned for Dh for our anniversary. We were supposed to leave in two days, but we'll go sometime next year, since I know this is the last Disney trip for a long time now.

Can 2016 be over with already? I'm so done with this year.

My goodness, you have been through the wringer, haven't you? I'm sorry for your troubles and hope things turn around for the remainder of the year. Adulting stinks sometimes

Holy moly @chewysmom im so sorry you've had such a tough few months. surely all that means the rest of the year and 2017 will be absolutely great right?!

Big hugs! :grouphug:

And happy anniversary!!! :flower1:

Wow @chewysmom! They do say bad things come in 3s right? I'm so glad to hear you got good news on your biopsy! That sucks about the car though. Make sure that DH takes care of himself. That had to be a terrible ordeal and I can't imagine the recovery needed.

Happy anniversary!

Hopefully as the trip gets closer you can start to relax more and focus on having fun. I agree that adulting does suck sometimes (ok a lot!). But it's because we adult that we can go to Disney and forget our worries for a little while. Hakuna Matata.

If you have someone that is interested in the train ride , just ride it and reload on the next train back. The trip over you are able to see some of the behind the scenes animal housing and some animals.

Ok peeps - a FB group was started for this planning thread and I can't keep track of who all was messaged about it (didnt know if it was ok post the link) but I can't keep track of everyone here AND there so here is the link - come join us!! We figured it would be easier to keep in touch/coordinate/post pics and such while on the trip there as well :)

there's a document to add your screenname and real name to so we know who is who!

This is our plan - rest and ride the train back there. Maybe I will get in line to meet Rafiki since my kids won't. I adore him :)
