Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

Looks like some October hours have been updated - now patiently waiting for november hours...

I have been reading up on recovery from a PE, and am starting to get nervous. I get short of breath walking more than a short distance, and tightness in my chest still. Some things I've read said the symptoms can take months to resolve. I posted on the community board to see if others had good news from their recoveries and got the suggestion to rent an electric scooter for our trip. It would definitely make it easier for me if I'm still having symptoms, but I have to say if in 2 months I'm not breathing better I'll probably have to cancel the trip. Disney on a scooter with 2 kids and a stroller sound like way too much work :( I'm hoping my doctor has some suggestions to help with the shortness of breath - I'm willing to try just about anything to not have to cancel this trip. Because if we cancel now, we probably wont be rebooking for a few years. Ugh!
I am sorry you are still feeling bad. :guilty:
You have a lot of time for healing and getting back to normal!

Meeko5, I hope you feel much better in time for your trip. Is there any kind of breathing treatment (like blowing into that plastic contraption I had to use after my cesarean surgeries)? Maybe do short practice walks, trying to go just a little further every day? Maybe ask how much walking you can do without compromising healing.

I am so excited! When I originally tried to make reservations for the keys to the Kingdom tour, I was told it was all sold out and some dates were blocked out for our trip. I just tried calling again, and there is now availability on one of the originally blacked-out dates. So we have reservations for the 8:00 am tour on Thursday, December 1! That just happened to be a day I had planned to be at MK anyway, with dinner at 1900 Park Fare. I can't believe how well this is working out!!!

Now I have every single plan in place that I wanted to make. Well, except for the bummer news about MSEP.

We're still debating tickets for MVMCP. I think we'll probably wait until we're down there. If the party dates are close to being sold out, we'll pass. If there's a lot of availability, we'll go one night.

How are you feeling Meeko? I like the suggestion above for trying to walk just a bit further each day. Don't push yourself - progress is progress! I hope you don't cancel your trip - just have the mindset that you'll have to take things a bit slower. Maybe build in some more time for relaxing at the pool! :)

Oh wow, I'm just seeing this! I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. It sounds like you're otherwise really healthy so I'm hoping the symptoms will clear up soon for you!!

I just made the mistake of reading the whole thread on worst ever Disney dining experiences in the restaurants forum :worried: (I actually think I've looked at that thread before and pushed it from my mind but I just read it in its entirety).

Anyway, I'm feeling very deflated about the trip and specifically the dining. Apparently there are no good dining experiences and we're sure to all get some form of food poisoning or other stomach ailment each and every day that we eat at Disney:sad1: Boo!

Anyway, I really know better. I know that there's always going to be some bad experiences and those posts are just a small percentage of total Disney dining experiences but boy that thread is a serious buzzkill!

I'm doing ok - can't do much yet without coughing and being short of breath but it's manageable. I'm determined to feel great by our trip so I'll be asking my doc Thursday at my appt for suggestions. Thanks for all the support guys!

I always ignore dining reviews, since tastes are so different. Mama melrose's got crap reviews and we loved it. BOG dinner was excellent and it gets varied reviews. People love biergarten and Tusker House but both were just meh for us. Apparently we aren't buffet people as Boma was the only one we looooved.

I think the big thing is people consider food quality vs cost and Disney is $$$. When you have a "fine" meal but paid 3x it's actual value it's hard to be objective. We don't eat out often, and have simple tastes. We felt all the food we are last trip was more than fine, especially since it was mostly "free" with out upgraded FD haha.

We just went on a trip (not to Disney) where the food and service were TERRIBLE. We had one good meal the entire week. The entire trip we were saying "Disney food is so much better than this...even their fast food is GOOD fast food." So its all a matter of perspective. Obviously some restaurants are better than others, but I am selective with what I eat and have found Disney restaurants to be accommodating and neither my husband or I have ever gotten sick from the food. We honestly look forward to Disney dining and when counting down for the trip, talk about "I can't wait to eat X at Disney." :)

We have had nothing but good food at Disney, even in the value resort food court. I think people are more inclined to write a bad review than a good one. For example, we've been to Hollywood and Vine twice, a restaurant that tends to get poor reviews, and our experience was great both times. Fingers crossed for another good trip!

I personally like H & V - and (GASP), I actually like Tony's too, and the world is full of Tony's-haters. But judging by the crowds, I don't think I'm the only one! HA HA HA Different tastes....

We love Tony's!! I think it's a nostalgia thing! We kids are actually sad that it's not our ADR list this trip. But they choose Skipper Canteen instead for that day.

101 for me today too! Can't wait to be in the double digits on Friday. I started my FP planning, all the meanwhile leaving tons up in the air hoping for a Star Wars fireworks dessert party...

99 days until our vacation starts! Flying down Thanksgiving evening. I am with you guys at 101 days until the WDW portion though, since USO is our first stop. I still don't have a single ADR, nor am I sure which park we will be in which day so watching the countdown is a little more nerve-racking for me and I have to tell myself to calm down and "It'll all be OK!" I'm hoping to work on it and firm up plans this weekend. Being prepared for FP day at 60 days is what's important to me. I know we won't go hungry. :)

I'm going to be canceling the following, let me know if anyone is interested in these:

-11/27 Sci-Fi for 4 @ 5:50pm

-11/28 Sci-Fi for 4 @ 11:15am

-11/30 H & V for 4 @ 12:15pm
