Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

Originally my SW flight got into Orlando on Fri 11/25 at 7:15, there was an almost 2-hour layover in Washington DC but as I have never been to that airport so I was kind of looking forward to it. :) However, a couple weeks ago they added an hour to the layover and we were going to get into Orlando at 8:15. I tried to switch but the other reasonably timed flights were sold out. HOWEVER, they have a sale going on right now and a better flight showed up - now I have a nonstop arriving in Orlando before 6! I'm so pleased. Plus it was $24 cheaper! :D

That's awesome!

Where does everyone get the park hours from? I'm seeing conflicting hours for Magic Kingdom on 11/30 with some saying 9am-11pm (1 PM EMH) and some saying 9am-12am (2 PM EMHs). Specifically, Touring Plans and Kenny the Pirate say until 12am, but the travel agent calendar states "PM EMH", which I would interpret as 1 EMH. For Epcot on 11/29 it states specifically that the PM EMH is 2 hrs.

I'm finally getting around to picking my parks for each day. Yeah, I'm a bit behind schedule... :rolleyes1

Official Disney site says EMH from 10-12 currently. They have hours out through end of Jan now so I would use those. Of course they may change some, but these are the hours I'm going by for now.

i had DS7 measured at exactly 48" without shoes at home using a tape measure. He had a well visit with his doctor last week and they measured him at 47.5". Whomp whomp. He's 34th percentile for height.

If he doesn't get to ride Rockin Rollercoaster this fall he will be devastated. I was so sure he was tall enough it didn't even register that he might not be once we get there. Time to find some tall tennis shoes :crowded:

My peanut was at the doctor yesterday and measured 38.75". His brother was about 43.5". The shoes the had last year gave them a definite boost! Hopefully they all have a growth spurt before November!

Tell him he needs to eat tall things, like asparagus and giraffe-shaped animal crackers.

Hopefully he will make up that 0.5" in 4 months! Seems totally doable!

Geez I feel dumb, why didn't I think of that? Thanks! Not that the extra hour was really going to impact my plans a ton, but it's always good to know you have the latest info.

Don't feel dumb - Disney almost never has their actual crap together, it's a wonder they are posted ;)

Very true! Maybe it's not so bad that I'm late to the planning because I've read on the boards how a lot of people had to change plans around when Disney changes things. BTW, I have a cat named Meeko. :)

Aww! We had a wolfdog named Meeko - she had similar markings as a raccoon as a pup so of course my Disney brain went to Meeko!

Cowboy boots!

I just finished watching Room and omg my face may never recover. One of the most heartbreaking movies I've seen yet. And I read the book so I thought I was prepared. That little boy was amazing in that role, and the mom definitely deserved that Oscar.

I must live in a hole. Haven't heard of this! But then again, my entire weekend was consumed by Harry Potter :)

Glad you posted that. I read the book and liked it and I am always afraid to watch the movie after I like the book. Sounds like I should give this one a try!

For those of you who were especially discouraged when TP revised their crowd predictions upward a couple weeks ago, go watch yesterday's Dis Unplugged podcast. Pete spent a bit of time in the middle talking about the newest AP discount and what that might mean going forward. To summarize, he basically is taking it as a sign that Disney's fall numbers are soft and he thinks we may have hit the ceiling as far as crowds and what people are willing to pay. Add to that the fact that the Halloween day MNSSHP sold out on the night of August 2 last year but still has tickets available this year and you have a couple solid indicators that perhaps things won't be as busy as TP is predicting. I'm sure it will still be busy, it is wdw after all, but maybe it won't be crazy busy. Then again, if they reduce staff to compensate for the lower crowds, our wait times could be just as bad. :confused3

Sounds promising at least!

It was really well done, though you get far less of Jack's voice. Grab like a case of Kleenex though!
