Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

For those leaving MK on party nights and getting dinner elsewhere, what time are your meals? I know people are saying after 4pm starts to get crazy when party guests start coming. But I don't want to miss too much time in the park since both our MK days are party days.

We did this last year for the Halloween party but for the life of me I can't remember what times our meals were haha.

So I just noticed on the November calendar that Josh is showing MK in red on my one full MK day (besides check-in day which I don't count as full because we won't be there til mid morning and will probably leave for awhile when the room is ready). He also has overall crowds at a 3 that day though. And it's an EMH pm night for MK so maybe it's red for that reason, although we won't be therefor the night time crowds. Thoughts? Would you change your whole schedule or leave it?

He's always recommended 1 party day, and 1 non party day for the nighttime stuff if you don't have hoppers. It's probably red because of that. I wouldnt switch it based on that, but I've now got 2 "red" days now (HS and Ak) vs none last year so take my opinion with a bucket of salt :)

We have a 7 pm at WC. We stayed last year until 7 on one Xmas party day and found the crowds to be no problem (at least that day). The other party day we have a 5 pm at CP then plan on park hopping to Epcot for Illuminations and EMH. These could be horrible plans. Haha. Just what we are going to try.

I just figured out (thanks to a thread here) that you can view past items - so now I have my whole old itinerary to look at including FP, dining reservations, etc. Woot!

Yes!

Sign into MDE, select the My Reservations and Tickets option on the right. in the top blue bar right above where it displays your reservation it says "show all" and if you click on the down arrow next to it the "show past items" is at the bottom. Not sure how far back it goes though!

:)

Ha! Right as I started to do that, the website went down. lol

Now that is very cool! Thanks for telling us about this. I was able to go back to our trip in Dec of 2014.

ETD: I'm not sure how accurate this is, though. It's showing a MVMCP ticket for DEC 16 of THIS year, and I never purchased this - plus it's outside the dates we will be there...has to be a mistake.

I remember in 2013 (so it may have changed) that it did get noticeably busier at 4, but not so crazy you couldn't move. Our MK days are party days too, I have a dinner at Ohana scheduled at 7:30 on one day. I figure if we decide it's too busy we can leave a little early and go look at Christmas decorations or something.

Canceling 2 ADRs - lunches at BOG on 12/3 and 12/4, both for parties of 3. PM to coordinate.

Crossposting where appropriate.

EDIT: 12/4 spoken for

On our last night should we do SOA or HDDR? Has anyone been to both? Any information would be helpful. I haven't really kept up on on this board, I am glad to see everyone was able to pretty much get what they wanted. We did pretty good for a party of 10, only 2 dinners are split reservations and just like some others here, we are searching for Akershus (even if I can only take my DD5).

Walmart had a whole bunch of cute women's tees and tanks - Star Wars, lion king, stitch, little mermaid, Mickey and Minnie. All for like 7.88 each. I may have to go back when I have time to try them on!

Kohls and Target have cute ones too. The Kohls ones in the junior dept are 2/$20 and if you have a coupon, even better!

This is what I was planning but not sure now. Sunday 11/27 is a 5 but green, Wed 11/30 is a 3 but red. I have early BOG dinner on 11/30 and want to see Wishes, etc. I guess we could go somewhere else that morning and hop before dinner. Would that be a better plan or will it still not be too bad since crowds are a 3? Decisions, decisions.

11/30 is the same day I'm planning to go to MK. Same concern...but I think we're just going to take our chances and deal with it.

We will be arriving 11/26 till 12/3! So excited and still waiting on the akershus or biergarten on 11/30 to open up. Nothing was working for me on adr day BUT I still got most of what I wanted. Here is the run down:
11/26 dinner at 1900 park fare (trying to find a early dinner chef Mickeys instead)
11/27 garden grill breakfast at 9:05( trying for an 8 still)
11/28 crystal palace at 830 am
11/29 liberty tree at 355pm (so excited for mvmcp that night)
11/30 hoping for biergarten or akershus
12/1 tusker house at 4pm (hoping ROL is ready by then
12/2 BOG at 545
12/3 CRT at noon as a huge surprise for the kiddos.
Also I had to make all of these via phone bc the app and computer wouldn't access past my check in date of 11/26. We are so excited for our first family WDW trip! We have a 6yo and almost 3yo at time of travel!

Welcome! Sounds like you all are going to have a magical vacation :)

I'm really having a hard time reconciling the lack of ADR's to what all the crowd calendars are publishing. Crowd levels are supposed to be moderate to low for our week, (if you can believe them - they've been somewhat inaccurate for most of the year). There's just nothing open on any of the days I'm looking for, which isn't the end of the world, as we're not doing a dining plan, and QS food will fill in nicely with the ADRs we do have (which are the ones we really wanted anyway!).

But, wow, either ALL the crowd calendars are way off base, or there are a TON of people sitting on extra reservations.

I'll keep a look out, but for now, we're just planning on eating on the run for the most part.

I really believe something is going on. I think Disney hasn't loaded all the reservations for December yet or something along those lines (or for the week after Thanksgiving). It's just weird. This is the third time I've made reservations for a free dining period and it is by far the hardest time I've had with getting close to what I wanted.
