Is anyone going then? Did anyone get a good deal? With all this code business, I wonder if they will offer something for that week.

that week. The only thing I got off was $400 for the package by calling AAA direct.

That week is blacked out for this promotion, I believe. We went that week last year and got a public code in September(?) for 20% off which allowed us to upgrade from POR to AKL for under $200 for 7 nights.

I looked thru AAA and we would have gotten about $200 off but our agent wasn't so great. I chose to book thru Disney in hopes of a code or something. Where are you staying?

We always used to go the week after Thanksgiving but this year we are going December 9th. I think a few years ago this week would have been included on the WWoD promo but the last few years it seems to have gotten more crowded. I'm sure there will be some type of discount offered closer to the time...it may not be as dead as the WWoD but it's still an off week....

Oh please don't tell me it's crowded that week!!! Is it??? We booked it because I thought it would be slow! Crowded and no discount?!?:scared:

Oh no - I would never use the term crowded when talking about that week - we love it! It just seems to be gaining popularity and where a few years ago we could walk on anything we wanted throughout the week this past year we found waits a bit longer (15 - 20 minutes for E ticket attractions)...still a great time of year to go - you'll love it!

Only thing to keep in mind is as you get closer to the following weekend (first weekend in Dec) people start coming in for Pop Warner and the parade taping so things do get a bit more crowded - but still nothing to worry about...

Here were my thoughts on crowds last year at that time:

We flew in on Sunday and went to MK for the parade. No problems. Went to MGM for the Osborne lights and Fantasmic. Crowded- but fine. We did have to stand at Fantasmic but we walked in 5 minutes before it started (we didn't mind)
Monday at MK was still a lot more crowded than I would have thought (Fantasyland was really crowded by noon!) But then the crowds thinned out for the rest of the week (we still used FP on the big rides- I still don't understand why people wait in line for an hour? :confused3 ).
But by the following Saturday, MK at night was a nightmare!!!! That was parade taping day and the first weekend of Pop Warner. We had a 5:30 at Crystal Palace and went on 2 rides and left.
What surprised me the most was the heat and humidity (it had been so cold there during Thanksgiving week) and the rain. In all 4 of my previous WDW trips it has never rained (except the August thunderstomrs we had on our honeymoon, but those always happened while we were on a ride or in a show, so we never actually "in" one.)
HTH- and be patient for a code- it is still many months away!

OK I feel better now! I knew about the Pop Warner- they should be coming when we leave. We went on Sept. 2 years ago. No crowds at all except for parade time. It was wonderful! VERY HOT though. I don't mind moderate crowds but I don't think I could handle the summer traffic. YIKES! With the heat and the crowds - I think I would get a tad bit crabby! And you know what they say- "When Momma ain't happy....Ain't nobody happy"!!!;)

I hear you!
Thanks for the tip on Sept (we are going last week of August/1st week of Sept this year). I am prepared for the heat at this time of year- just not in December!

I'm going that week. Booked our package through AAA but with this whole code fiasco, just called Disney to see if we couldn't get better rates, even though it's not technically included in the code dates.

I called AND was given a rate for that code. Plugging everything into the computer, it came up with about a $400 savings from the same thing quoted online.

However, we already have a res. for CL and that doesn't qualify for the rate, so we're not changing it. But, just wanted to say, try calling them and see what happens. you might get lucky and get the discount even though it's not techniaclly suppossed to be applied then!

We usually go right after Thanksgiving but because of the deal we got ($49 a nite for ten nites from 12/09-12/19 at the Sports) we are going a tad bit later.

One advantage of being a return visitor is that you can go with the flow and if one place is crowded you just go do something else. There is always fun to be had and while it might not be exactly what is on your list it can often turn out even better.

Have a ball y'all and hope to see you there!!:thumbsup2

What kind of rates did you get, if you don't mind me asking?

I was looking specifically for what I had, which was 3 adults at AKL, with dining plan and 8 day of park ticekts, 9 nights. She told me that the park hopper/water park features were automatic with that rate.

I was quoted $4670.04 for a standard room, $5378.52 for a Savannah view.

It's a good savings, but she said there were no CL rooms that met that, and we really wanted the CL, so didn't take it.

When I booked a couple months ago I got the rate of $3300 for WL st room, 7 nights, 8 day hopper and dining for 2 adults and a 10 yr old (do they pay adult prices?) I called to get the code rate and they quoted me the exact same price. They said the dates were already a discounted period. Does that sound right?

When were you arriving? I thought the discounted period didn't start until Monda, the 26th.
Even still, you should get more off. Unless that's the, whatever they call it (weeks of magic? That's not it....can't think of it now...), but I thought those weren't until Dec.

Now I'm thinking maybe it's a good thing that my week doesn't fall into the discount code dates. All the discounted weeks will be crowded and mine will be slow!!!:thumbsup2 :rotfl:
