We'll be staying at OKW Sunday after Thanksgiving through Friday. Can anyone tell me about the weather and crowds? What about Christmas decorations?
Three generations traveling: mother, daughter and grand daughter. We can't wait, any information would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!

We went last year at this time and loved it. Sunday and Monday still had some carry over crowds from the holiday but it was still OK. Lines were much better after that (but still Fast Pass the big guys - Soarin was always an hour or more wait otherwise!) It was crazy at MK on Saturday night (parade taping day) but I think you were leaving by then...(?)

It was unusually hot (mid 80's and humid!) so I brought home a whole suitcase full of warm clothes that we never wore! (but pack 'em anyway becuase temps were in the 50's the week before!) It also rained Tuesday night through Wednesday (my 1st time at WDW with that kind of rain :()

All the Christmas decs will be up and the activities going. Do not miss the Osborne lights at MGM, MVMCP at MK and Candlelight Processional at Epcot.

Nothing beats WDW at Christmastime! :santa:
Have fun and welcome to the Dis!!

I see that you will be at a DVC resort (OKW) and this week is VERY popular with DVC folks. For the past 5 yrs we have gone during this time frame and each year it seems to have gotten busier in the parks. As the 1st post mentioned the weekend is very busy and it tapers off a little each day, some parks were still busy on Tues. (as compared to previous yrs.) You will also find that all of the DVC resorts are near capacity your full stay. Great point prices and Holiday decor is the reason.
Hope you have a wonderful time!

In my opinion you have picked the best possible week to go!!! We went that week in 2005 and had no crowds to speak of. We actually arrived on the Friday after Thanksgiving, but didnt go into the parks until Sunday. It did get a bit crazy on our last day, Friday Dec. 3rd. That was the beginning of Pop Warner and the young kids were everywhere at Epcot. For the most part we had maybe 5-10 min waits on popular rides during the week. Some rides we stayed on after riding because no one was waiting to board. We did the MVMCP and loved it. We also resort hopped to look at decorations. Everything is so pretty. We experienced all kinds of weather for those 9 days. It started out in the mid 70's and we swam and wore shorts. Then it got a bit cooler and we went to jeans and short sleeve shirts. Then it was really cold our last two nights and we wore jeans, long sleeve shirts, coats and gloves and hats- this was in the evenings.
For our trip last month it was crazy hot. We had temps in the lower to mid 80's everyday and I had to do lots of laundry because I took mainly long stuff. We were never out of shorts and short sleeve shirts (even at 1am in the parks) and never used our jackets or gloves. It was so neat to be in shorts the whole time in December. You really have to pack for everything and keep checking the local weather as your trip gets closer.
Have fun- this is a great week to go- our favorite!!

Somewhat new to this: what is MVMCP?

Thanks for all you help!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. It is an after hours special ticket event that is run 3-4 times per week at the Magic Kingdom from 7pm to midnight. Virtually all of the rides are open, the characters are out and dressed for the holidays, the Christmas parade runs 2 times during the night with snow on main street, a special fireworks show, free cookies and hot chocolate, special stage shows- it's terrific!! It is about $45 per adult ($30 for children? I don't remember :confused3 ) but in my mind it is worth it! The rides have almost no wait at all (even the big guys) and the atmosphere is so festive! We really enjoyed it!

Thanks! Has anyone else went to this party the week after Thanksgiving?
Sounds like fun, any advice?

Thanks,
Lisa
