I was looking at the park hours from last year, and it seems its a very OFF WEEK the week after Thanksgiving when we will be there. DL Park opens at 9am, closes at 8pm. DCA opens at 10am, closes at 8pm.

So does this mean there won't be any WOC shows Mon-Thurs that week???

Also, I noticed they didn't offer EE on Tues of that week either. BUMMER. Now I'm not sure where to order my tickets. I was planning on LMT.com b/c they have the cheapest price including an EE. But maybe I should get the Costco deal from my cousin who lives in Cali instead. They don't come with EE, but if they aren't going to offer it that week anyway, might as well since they are cheaper...???

Was anyone there last year during that time, and can comment??

I was there last year at this time and the hours are shorter because it is a slow time WOC showed every night we were there as did fireworks in DL. After WOC or the Fireworks in DL the park is closed so it tends to be a bottleneck to get out not so much in DCA though. There was MM just on Tuesday there was the Holiday candy canes and so MM was for DLR guests first. The Candy Canes are a Holiday tradition and if you have a chance are amazing :)

I would take what happened last year as a very basic guide to what will happen this year.

While you may think the hours are very off, they were quite typical. That is a slow week.

One thing to remember is that the Holiday season will be in full swing by then. The Holiday parade runs every day and it snows on Main Street, every day. IASW lights up every night. The Holiday fireworks (used to) go every day.

I don't know about WOC, since I haven't been since it opened. The hours are shorter, but it gets darker earlier, that makes it fun to ride some of the rides in the dark. We love the 10-8 or 9-8 hours. We totally feel like we get everything done that we want to get done and still have a chance to get a good night's sleep and have a somewhat leisurely breakfast.

While the decorations all will be out. It is possible that DLR will moved to a ticketed Christmas event that will have the special parade and special fireworks only on those nights. I'm only suggesting to be aware that this could happen because.... A. That is what they do at WDW B. The Halloween parties at DL went very well last year and TDA may want to get more money out of the other season.

There have been no announcements or rumors to this effect. If it were to happen, I would suggest 2013 at the earliest. They will still need to get Carsland open and have that running for a while, otherwise there will be major crowd control issues. Halloween is bad enough, I can't imagine them adding Christmas. In addition, tickets would have already gone on sale by now.

Not all correct.

Sorry, I was only suggesting it as a possibility.

There have been no announcements, but there have been rumors (there are rumors about everything DLR-related, though). I agree with skiingfast - I think it's inevitable that there will be a Christmas party at DLR in the not-too-distant future. The Halloween parties are way too popular and the holiday season is getting even more popular with each passing year for TDA to not even give it a try. It may be a controversial move, though, to suddenly make parades and fireworks party exclusives when they have been available to everyone for many, many years.

If the rumors of the Candlelight Processional relocating to DCA are correct - or if those eventually pan out - I would almost bet money on there being a Christmas party in DL to sort of balance out the signature holiday events, and have one in each park. If the CP stays in DL, then I could envision a Christmas party taking place in DCA for the first year or two, maybe with a holiday version of World of Color and the expected holiday Toy Story Mania (with Mr Potato Head singing the carols that have already been recorded) as the focal points of the party.

But I agree with you that if there is to be a holiday party it would not be this year. It seems like it would be too much to pull off when there is so much going on. I would have guessed 2013 as a likely party debut date as well, after everything new has settled in a bit, though just when I think I have TDA and DLR figured out and I think I know what they are going to do and when it's going to happen, they end up pulling a fast one on us! (For example, no one saw the 11/14 start date of the holiday season coming - we all thought it would be 11/11 or 11/18, based on historical season start dates. November 14 threw us all for a loop!) And DLR is already having a big Halloween party in DL, as we know, so there's nothing really to stop them from having a big Christmas party in DL in 2012, if they wanted to do that.

I'm not sure where it says that there wasn't MM on Tuesday, but the MP update last year for that week has MM listed. Also WOC was nightly last year, but I'm not sure how long that will last. And as PP said parades and fireworks are daily.

We're going the same week and I'm glad it's a slow week. I'd rather have shorter hours and feel rested with less crowds. You won't miss a thing. WoC should be showing. :thumbsup2 We've seen it twice so it's not a must. We'll maybe watch it from the balcony at the GCV. :cloud9:

Now, no fireworks would freak me out!

I agree with you, rentayenta!

I was thinking the same thing - as long as this post-Thanksgiving time frame is the full-throttle holiday mode, which it will be, and the entire Resort is in the spirit of the season and I'm not missing out on any of the merriment, then I can handle shorter hours if the crowds are lighter.

The crowds may not be low or totally light (it is the holiday season, after all), but this is a golden window of time in which people will have just returned home from their Thanksgiving celebrations and/or not yet set out on their Christmas trips, so it's bound to be somewhat less crowded than other times when I've been there for the holiday season, unless everyone under the sun has now decided to go to DLR during this time frame!:rotfl2:

So I can deal with earlier closing hours, if that's what happens. That is so much more preferable to not being able to get through crowds blocking New Orleans Square or into shops that are too packed with people, or walking shoulder to shoulder with people on Main Street because it's so congested.

YAY, so you're all saying WOC will still play every night, just at an early time? It would have to start by 7:30pm to be over by 8pm...does that sound about right??? So there will probably only be one showing? I was just worried there wouldn't be enough time before it got dark and the park closed, since the latest showing USUALLY starts at 8pm!

BTW, I was looking at this website, All Things Mouse, and they did not show a MM for the Tuesday following Thanksgiving Day (but did show one for Sun, Thurs, Sat), so thats what worried me! Maybe it was just a typo then?!?! :confused3

WOC does not have to be over by the time the park closes. The park rides close and most guests leave, and those that are watching the show stay. For example, all summer there are 9:00 and 10:15 WOC shows, but the parks close at 10:00 PM. I remember earlier this year in the off-season, the WOC show was at 8:00 or 8:15. In the off-season there is usually only one show on the weekdays, typically two on the weekends. If the park closes at 8, I'd guess WOC would start around 8 also. I don't remember them ever having a show before 8.

AHA! I didn't know you could stay in the park after it closed for WOC!! Now it makes sense!

Thanks so much, guys! I feel much better!! :woohoo:
