How busy is it during the week following marathon weekend? How about during Pop Warner time?

It's pretty empty during the week but then gets more crowded over the weekend, which is MLK Weekend.

This year, the marathon was on the Sunday, and by Tues evening, you could shoot a cannon through Fantasyland and not hit anyone. :teeth:

Next year, the 1/2 is on Sat and the full on Sunday, so you may find that the parks clear out even more quickly after the weekend.

We usually always go after the marathon and the park is not crowded. Our only problem has been the weather, it's been cold the last 2 years. This year we switched to September so our DD can swim.

It was empty when we went in Jan 2001 (only real lines were the big rides like Jungle Cruise, TOT, Test Track, and Dumbo of course). Like another said, it was COLD... one day was a high of 53 and felt colder with the wind, down in the 30s that morning... but being from an area of NY that is used to foot upon foot of snow we had a great time. The kids were only able to swim 2 days (too chilly for us adults), so don't choose a hotel for it's pool!

If you dislike the heat & crowds it's a great time to go. If you want a warm & sunny FL vacation, to swim and tan, you are taking a big risk.

Hi Sunni:

Thanks for the tips. We are from Northern NY (near Canada). Like you, we are used to cold weather. The trip you described sounds PERFECT to me.

Thanks,

When is the Marathon in 2006? How about Pop Warner?

Renee

We have gone twice in Jan the week after the marathon- usually arriving Sat for a week, not trying for the parks until Sunday & the place it a ghost town by Tuesday. Weather in 2004 was 60's & 70's most of the week! :)

I believe in 2006 Marathon is 1/7 and 1/8...don't know about Pop Warner.
We've been there the last two years 2004 from 12/30/03 thru 1/5/04 (never
again...crowds were horrible until 1/2/04) but the weather was gorgeous, so,
we basically did the resort stuff (swimming, boating, etc.) until 1/2. Then,
this year we got there on New Years Day (which was a Saturday) and by Monday morning the place was empty and the weather was gorgeous again.
It started to get a little more crowded on Thursday evening for Marathon weekend. We left on 9:00 a.m. flight from MCO on 1/9 which was Marathon
Day, so, we were leaving the resort about 6:30 a.m. and a lot of interior roads were closed to traffic for the runners, but, everything was well marked as to detours. But, we've been fortunate with the weather because within a
day after we left the weather went from low 80's to 40's. We're not chancing January again this year......going mid December (10th to 17th)

We arrived on our honeymoon the Monday after the Marathon. THe parks were dead until Saturday and Sunday of MLK weekend. THe weather was gorgeous and it was 70-80 most days except 2 days which were in the 60's. We had a great time. This was Jan of 2000.
