Cast Of Characters
DH - Rick (49) - Driver and chief worrier
DW - Julia (42) - Co-Pilot and wanderer (where is your mum?)
DS - Matt (15) - Chief Babe Spotter
DD - Nicole (13) - Disney "wannabee Animator"
This is our 12th visit as a family and first time to Cypress Pointe.
We have surprised the kids twice before but this time is definitely the biggest yet (Suprised will be revealed on Trip Report for Aug/19th).
Day 2 - Aug/11
DH and DW wake up too early (5am) . Kids up at 7am and after breakfast of cereal ,muffins and fruit we head off to Epcot. Parked at Journey 6 and arrived in time for the rope drop.(this is the last few days of our soon to expire Annual Passes....yikes!).
We run with the rest of the crowd straight through to Test Track and manage to ride twice in a row. The kids sit it the cars at the end of the ride.
Heading off to Mission Space we have convinced DD to give it a try (she has been very reluctant up until now).DH and DS ride the Orange ride and DD and DW ride the Green (less intense experience). It turns out that it is now DD's favourite new ride! (back on again for second time because it is still quite quiet (this time we all go on the Green one to be with DD).
Next stop of the day is Soarin. Excellent as usual although we are still to experience the front row.
We decide to head back to the Villas at 12-45pm .It is very hot and we want some lunch and a swim. After a relaxing lunch of rolls, cheescake and fruit we head down to the pool where only 3 people are in. Its sunny and hot and the Calypso music is very relaxing (DH pretends to not listen because he is a Hard Rock fan). The pool water is like a bath .Back up to the villa room to watch Uncle Buck on TV before heading back to Epcot at 5pm.
We park at Amaze 29 and walk on to SpaceShip Earth which was enjoyable as usual. We then move on to the World Showcase.
The first stop is the Mexican boat ride (DH thinks its too dark and DW thinks its romantic....never the twain shall meet!).The second stop is Norways Maelstrom. We would have stopped for School Bread but we have an ADR for the Rose And Crown. We check out the shops in Germany and Japan on the way round the lake. DW nearly walks into lamp post when nice young Italian man wishes her Buena Sera (spelling?). DS tries Armani aftershave and we all choke on the fumes .He likes it.
We stop at the USA pavilion for DD to get a drink and end up watching the Chicago tribute band Transit Authority (pretty good).
As we head towards the Rose And Crown we stop for a photo on the bridge at France.
Arrive at the R and C 5 minutes before our ADR. We are met by Ian from Liverpool and takes us to our table which is a Primo table at the centre of the patio on the water. Ian is 2 months into his contract and loves it here (who wouldn't).
Amy from Glasgow is our waitress .She has been here 5 months and is enjoying it immensely.DS ,DH and DW have Leek and Potato soup and DD has kids cheese and fruit plate. DS has fish and chips and DW and DH have Guinness Stew.DD has bangers and mash. DH has CC and Coke (which was the best mix I've had at Epcot)and DW has 2 glasses of Pinot Grigio.
We time the dinner perfectly to match up to the start of Illuminations. The fireworks were spectacular from this vantage point. Excellent night all around. Walking slowly to the exit of the park we depart surprisingly easy.
