Possibly, but the resort boat shuttles wouldn't really be anymore or less busier with the monorails down. Possibly the TTC boats would have longer lines, but about it.
The gold route gets slammed when resort goes down. Typically when that happens, the coordinator will pull one of the 120 passenger cruisers to go on the gold route until it is caught up. However, when that happens, the red/green routes suffer a bit, so it is only a temporary band-aid. Most of the time it works through.
There are 6 launches. 5 in operation at all times and a 6th "pirate launch" however, the pirate launch is the exact same as the other 5 launches.
The pirate boats the above post refers to are the MK I and MK II boats which are A) extremely slow B) held in dry dock all day long until the fireworks voyage at night and C) require CMs with special training to drive the boat. Not every CM is trained on every boat.
The walk from CR to TTC is not doable. However, the walk from CR to MK is very doable and if Ferrys to MK are still running(45 min after close), that is still a better solution than waiting with no movement while a passenger is treated. I'm talking of course about ppl who don't have restrictions on walking.
We do not need MORE boats, we need ppl to move faster and stop having SUV sized strollers with everything but the pet rock collection in them, which delays boarding and in turn delays all the boats on the route. On the Ferrys, ppl need to actually listen to the CMs and go upstairs(if able),which again, makes boarding much much quicker.
Unfortunately a situation like this is the inherent problem with anything on a track and is the reason that although monorail expansion to other parks would be nice when it works, I have held that in many cases it is a bad idea. The amount of time required to deploy more busses/bring more boats online in the event of an unplanned outage would just decrease overall satisfaction vs the current system.
At the end of the day, it is mass transportation like anything else. Busses have traffic, boats have the water pagent,
ECV transfers(dont get me started), ferryboats, all kinds of things to get in the way of the best possible operation, and monorails have their issues too. Some methods are more flexible than others, but things happen, sometimes out of the control of Disney, and ppl just simply have to deal with it. That is why every person is told on the phone, allow 1.5 hrs for transportation even if it is MK to the Poly.
