Weddings At The Contemporary..

Hey All! This is my first time posting here and I could really use some guidance. I have been engaged to my fiancee for almost two years now and have had the hardest time deciding on a wedding venue. We are both huge Disney World fans and visit every 6-8 weeks or so. My memories of DW span my lifetime. That being said, the place in DW that holds the most significant memories of my childhood is the Contemporary Resort. Thats the hotel that my Grandmother used to take me to during our trips to DW. We spent countless Christmases and other vacations there, and now that she is no longer with us, it would mean the world to me to get married in the same place that I have so many priceless memories of her. But I see that getting married there is a no-go, and that saddens me . Why don't they allow weddings there? I realize we can have the reception there, but Id love to be able to do it all within the Contemporary property. I'd greatly appreciate any advice on this. When I imagine my perfect wedding, the Contemporary is the location I dream of. Its devastating to not be able to plan my wedding there. I would GREATLY appreciate any guidance on this topic.

I think Disney only allows certain locations, but is the Wedding Pavilion out of the question? It's so close...

You could have your ceremony in one of the Contemporary ballrooms if you wanted. I think they just don't get many requests for ceremonies in ballrooms, so they don't really advertise that as an option.

We asked about having a beach ceremony at the Contemporary and our planner looked into it for us but we got the ultimate no. They told us the grounds are reserved for resort guests and cannot be used for weddings. We ended up on the beach at the Beach Club. How about something at the Poly with the Contemporary view in the distance behind you?

Maybe in the ballroom then you could have a dessert party on on of the CR patios?

I read about a ceremony once at the CR-I think it was in or near the BLT concierge lounge with a view of MK in the background. BUT, from what I remember it was a last minute venue change from the Wedding Pavilion due to major issues with the DVC construction interfering with the wedding.

I like the idea of choosing a venue that has the CR in the background

When we stayed at the CR two years ago I saw a bride entering a ballroom with her father and had seen an officiant loitering outside the ballroom about 30 minutes before. I'm sure they had their ceremony inside the ballroom. Just insist you want to have a ceremony inside a ballroom. I can't imagine why there would be an issue.
