Im just about to fill out the form for my wedding website with Disney. Im not sure what to write for the welcome paragraph (our story)?

What type of thing did everyone else write?

Yeah, that what I would put. Maybe how you met, how he proposed, etc.

Laura
I just (Wednesday) did my wedding web site too!!
I included how we meet and how he proposed.
You can look at it if you want
disneyweddings.go.com/lacombeandmiller
They still need to make a few corrections (spacing of our names and 2 spelling errors)

good luck! :cheer2:

Hi, I just wanted to ask, when did you guys recieve the form for your wedding website. The reason I'm asking is because our intimate wedding is on Nov. 4,2006 and we already booked the hotel rooms and sent the fax in for the planning kit. They told me that they recieved the fax and that everything was okay but I still haven't heard anything about the wedding website. So I've called and left messages and I've sent emails also to our wedding coordinator, but haven't had my messages returned or emails answered, so I was wondering if you could let me know this info. It would be very helpful to us, thanx in advance. :tink: pixiedust:

HA! I NEVER got any form for my website...and it seemed changing it was "too much of a hassle" so...I was excited about it at first and it was such a big letdown! However, that was the ONLY letdown after all is said and done, and it really was minor (in the grand scheme of things).

tink606 I would suggest calling your coordinator and keep after it! It took me SEVERAL phone calls to get a response on this issue and it still didn't go well for me. If this is something that is important to you just keep after them!

Thank u for the info. It just seems like their too busy to answer any of the intimate wedding questions, now if u mention custom weddings, they go all out. I don't know maybe its just me, but I have called and left several messages and even sent emails but haven't gotten any response, thus far. I had another question, maybe one of you know, what is the contrace, is that the planning kit that we have to fax or mail out to them or is that something seperate? :tink: pixiedust: thank u again.=0)

Your best bet on responses is email. All of the coordinators are very busy and they do tend to focus on the events they have today, tomorrow, or next week (and that is totally understandable).

I was usually able to get a response via email within a day or two...phone calls usually took a little longer. If you haven't gotten a response within a couple of days, send another email.

If you are an intimate, you don't really sign a formal contract. You pay your deposit, fill out the planning kit and pay the balance when it's due and that's pretty much it. The formal contracts are really only for the custom weddings because there are specific minimum expenditures to meet.

Also, you are still a couple of months out. I know this sounds bad, but while we spend months and months agonizing over the details of our intimate weddings, I have started to think that Disney almost throws them together at the last minute! :teeth: And that's not a bad thing!!! Remember that Disney does over 1000 weddings a year (that averages out to about 3 a day!!!) and my guess is most of them are intimates. If you do something that often, you've got a plan of action, and it runs like a well oiled machine...so, to Disney, you still have plenty of time to plan!!! :)

Thank you so much for your help, you have put some of my worries to rest.  I was really confused cause some people were saying that they had to sign a contract and sent 500.00 on top of the deposit you put to reserve the hotel, which is to set the date for the wedding. yet my coordinator told me the same thing you just said. so i think i'll go with what you said, since its what the EM said. again thank you so much. :tink: pixiedust:

Glad I could make you feel better!

All the stress and "bumps" get resolved and the day of your wedding will be perfect!!

Just try not to stress too much (easier said than done, that's for sure)!!! Enjoy the planning...it goes by much too quickly!

We are an Intimate Wedding on 12/11/06 and our Disney website is already up - but it is all but useless, except to order park tickets.

As an Intimate, you will not have the same opportunity to personalize your web page as a Custom bride, since hotel reservation information is not needed.

We built a custom page at weddingchannel.com and send everyone to that one - it's much more complete and I can update it myself whenever I want to from my own desk. :surfweb:

On a different note, Intimates have changed a bit as far as contracts - while ours was nothing like the Custom we first looked at, we still had to initial every page of ours and there were plenty of restrictions in there - including a huge clause stating that if more than 20 people show up, they can cancel everything right on the spot! :guilty:

That is new, though - it used to be much different to book an Intimate, with the hotel charges included up front as part of a package. Now you need to book your hotel deposit separately and put that under deposit before you can book your wedding and put that under a separate deposit. It works better for me this way, though, since I have an AP and don't have to fuss with tickets.

Good luck with your day!

When I booked my intimate, DF and I had to sign a contract and pay a 500.00 deposit ON TOP OF my desposit I had already paid for the room (600.00). I am not sure if they have changed things for people with a 2007 wedding date, but my date is Dec 21, 2006 and we didn't sign the contract until Jan of 2006.

Hey Nkkilala! I just wanted to say that I really like the intro to your website. Well said and very sweet. You also picked good hotels BTW :thumbsup2

Nicole, I also like your site. The way your fiance proposed sounds very sweet!

For those of you having frustration over your website... you might want to look into one through another method, like friendofgusgus suggested. Our daughter got married (not at Disney) in January, and her site was set up quite a bit before that. We set up a page for their wedding at ewedding.com, and it allowed her to edit registries, create photo albums, provide info for the bridal party, and much more... all without going through anyone else. Here is the link:

http://JasonPicksKate.com

If you want one that is free, I'd suggest theknot.com. Here is a page that Tom and I have set up for fun, to give info to friends about our vow renewal:

http://www.theknot.com/ourwedding/EvelynB&TomB

They both were easy to maintain, allowing info to be updated immediately without having to first contact someone else. HTH! ~Ev :)

Thank you all so much!
I wanted to keep the intro short and sweet!

I too have more than just the disney wedding site. I used both theknot.com and I have a blog set up from blogger.com. I like both of these becuase they let me update whenever I want!

The disney one is nice but it is really only useful for hotel and ticket information.

You can look at both of thoes if you want ideas. I am alwasy free for questions! :cheer2:

How about a fairy tale theme, like "Once upon a time there was a beautiful pricess named Laura, who dreamed of meeting her Prince, until one day all her wishes came true..." You could of course add in some humor and incorporate your own persoanl story on how you two meet. Just an idea, but I love corny things

Haha, that's sort of how my daughter began the story of how she and her DH met on their wedding website...

"Once upon a midnight dreary, while I wandered, weak and weary... Where the heck is my car?!?!"

(They met at a towing company when both of their cars had been towed in the middle of the night!) :rotfl: ~Ev
