My niece and her boyfriend are getting married on 4/1. They have 2 children (1 by prior marriage for her, 1 together) The oldest knows no other Dad than the present one.

I have agreed to marry them (online minister) since they do not want any religion and it was better than a justice of the peace. (Now I am thinking I am crazy ... lol)

I want to do a sand ceremony and include the kids. Anyone have any sand ceremony vows that would include the kids? Been looking online but would be open to suggestions.
Thanks

You don't mention the ages of the children, so it's a little hard to judge how involved or interested they would be in the experience, but it's a lovely thought. If they're old enough to participate, but young enough not to roll their eyes at everything ;) I would do something along these lines:

"Today we not only celebrate the joining of two hearts as one, we also celebrate the creation of a family. These vials of sand represent (BRIDE), (GROOM), and (children). As each pours the sand in this new vessel, they show that the individual colors combine to create a beautiful masterpiece. Just as these sands are forever intermixed, so are the lives of the people being celebrated today. As we join this couple in marriage, we are also reminded of the significant role that (children) play in this new life and we honor this new family."

You have a lot of leeway here and I would just do your best to make it relaxed, memorable and enjoyable for everyone! Congratulations to your niece and her family! :)

Traditionally each color has a meaning. It would be neat to have each person choose a color that has a special quality or meaning that they think is important for a family to have. Each person could say what the color means and why (in their own words) they think that color's meaning is important for the family. For example, "Today before all of you I pour pink. The color pink represents compassion, love and friendship. Without those qualities no family can grow and prosper. With this act I promise to show love, compassion and friendship towards my new family members."

Obviously this will only work if the kids are old enough. If they're much younger they might enjoy pouring sand that's they're favorite color.

Thank you, that is really nice and I like what you have said. The children are 8 and 4. I think they will just enjoy putting the sand in. We are going to use their favorite colors.

Never heard of this, but I have to say it sounds beautiful!!!!! Congrats to the couple.

I thought you were talking about a ceremony on the beach...by the title. I've never heard of a sand ceremony before. Sounds nice.
