I'd stay away from black or black and white. That time of year with sage and white as wedding colors, you could do a nice raspberry, copper, chocolate brown, midnight blue...there are lots of possibilities.
Evening reception so you could wear a gown if that is what the MOB & MOG are doing...keeps everyone looking the same level of "formal".
If relationships are good between all the mothers, I'd probably do as a PP suggested and have a little "coffee klatch" to discuss what everyone is wearing, style, color, length etc.
If the relationship between the mothers is not so good then I'd ask the bride for some guidance...explain to her that you don't want to steal anyone's thunder and you don't want to "over do"(look too dressed up) or "under do" (look too casual).
