Wedding photos

Sent you an email. Give me a call tomorrow if you want help with the Photoshopping. I have learned A LOT in the last souple of weeks.

So I am helping skr8pn with his wedding program, I work with him and he showed me this site. Anyway, what do you guys think of this?

I wasn't sure about the black text, but I printed it out and it looks pretty good.
Comments?

I was just going to ask for an update.... :rotfl2:

2 minor things that bother me (but I have no idea how difficult to fix)..

the scratch blemish near the baby nose on the right picture.
Make the recent picture on the bottom more in focus to sort of give a "then (baby) and "now" feel?

just my 2 cents

Sue

I have that same wedding band :goodvibes

Is it just here or are the bottom pictures that blurry? Were you going for the fade? If so, you got it!

He was going for the blurry look, and yes I noticed that scratch just now, mighht be pretty easy to fix, but it doesn't show up that well on the printed version. The recent photo should be a little more in focus, but then again, if I do that, he might lose the desired effect. I will work with him tomorrow, he still has a week to go :)

That and the future mrs has not seen it yet, and we all know, she will have final say :)

Thanks for the comments.

I didn't notice the scratch either but I think the scratch is a little piece of fuzz laying on MY picture. And yes the print looks great, I couldn't be any happier.

First and foremost, I want to thank all those who gave me advice/direction on photographing my sister-in-law's wedding. It was this past Saturday and went OK, considering all the things that went wrong that I had no control over. :) I will post a picture as soon as I get some uploaded. I did have some strange lighting conditions to deal with, and I am still reviewing pictures, but I am pretty pleased. So big thanks!

Now, I have another question. I would like to start a portfolio. I am taking senior pictures this summer and possibly engagement pictures for people that I know. I also have the pictures from the wedding of course. And I was shopping at B & H for a portfolio, but was a little overwhelmed by all the options. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions for a particular portfolio or type of portfolio. I am not sure what type of binding would be best. I would like for it to be refillable and durable, but beyond that, I am really not sure what else I should be looking for. And it is difficult when I can't actually hold the item in my hands and check it out. Thanks in advance for any help! :)

if you have an art store locally , they usually have a good supply of portfolios..(my husband uses one for his work) they come in all sizes and have clear slip in holders that you can add to( or take out depending on the need). they are a "leatherlook" , usually have a zipper and look professional. his samples are heavier than photos but the ones that have the plastic spiral note book type holder didn't last so now his has what looks like metal rings from a looseleaf note book and has lasted a few years.
after checking them out in person some place you can try www.cheapjoes.com online...sometimes their prices are decent and their quality is good ( if you live in NC you can go to their store but what are the chances :teeth: )

Thanks for the tip Mickey88! I will be sure to do that. :)

And finally, pictures! I was so busy organizing them and getting them ready for the bride that I haven't had a chance to up load until now. But here are a few of my favorites. Critique welcome! :)

OH MY GOODNESS they are fantastic. And I love this one!!!! Great work!!!

They are wonderful. I did a favor for a friend of a friend and took photos at their wedding a few weeks ago. Your's are so much better!

In my defence - I was shooting in pitch blackness with strands of Christmas tree lights and candles as the only light source.

Very nice! If I could offer some suggestions?? The picture of the bride and flower girl is sweet, nice lighting. It might benefit from a tighter cropping - eliminate some of the distraction on the right side of the picture.

Also, the side view of the bride, it's usually best to either eliminate the far eye or show more of it (you just have the eyelashes showing).

Great pictures, especially the flower girl. I remember when you originally posted that you were going to take on a wedding--I thought you were nuts. Photographing a wedding is a HUGE responsibility. Glad to see that your pictures came out so good. :)

Wow! I need to pay more attention. I didn't even realize this thread got resurrected. :rotfl: Thanks so much for the advice and suggestions! I really appreciate them!

When DH and I were at Hobby Lobby the other day Christmas shopping, I saw portfolios. I didn't have much time to check them out though, so I will have to go back sometime. I am hoping for some photography goodies for Christmas, and I'm really hoping to get another wedding gig this coming June, but I don't know yet if that will work out. In the meantime, here's a couple more from the wedding in April.

Had a hard time getting the new brother-in-law to smile.

She is a nut, and looks like she got it from my mother-in-law. :rotfl:

And this one is courtesy of DH. That's my other sister-in-law, wearing her boyfriend's tie for some reason.

A recent bride posted some wedding photos on the Community Board. They are just BEAUTIFUL!!! :worship:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1345229
Photos run thru first 2 pages of thread. Photographers name & phone # given somewhere around pg 2 I think. She used to be a social worker. lol

ETA: some photos loading a bit wonky this morning. They were fine last night.

very beautiful photo's! The backgrounds are amazing as is the compositions. I wish I had places like that for my weddings! the last one it poured so we couldn't go to the gardens like we wanted. This upcoming one is outside ina backyard. I'm goign to ask the bride if she wants to go somewhere away froma ll the guest for photos.

There are some beautiful images there, and what luck to have the kind of weather that would allow all those outdoor shots in a strapless gown in January at Princeton. But IMO too many of the photos were shot at severe angles. I do like that look in small doses, but I was getting kind of dizzy looking at them all together. It might be a bit much in an album. And did you notice that a few of the ones that weren't composed at an angle need to be leveled?

Jeez I've gotten picky! They really are nice.

I agree. My brother got married last summer and most of the pro photographers shots were angled. It's ok for a few, but not most of them.

The photos were great though. Really beautiful work.
