Hello,
I have been a long-time Disney fan, but I don't get to visit Disney World very frequently, so my familiarity with restaurants around Orlando is limited. As such, I would very much appreciate the vast knowledge and experience everyone on this board possesses to help with two very special meals.

For background, my Fiance and I have decided upon a destination wedding in December of this year, and have asked our immediate family to join us. We live in New Mexico, and around 16 of us will be traveling to Orlando in mid-December for an intimate ceremony in Orlando, followed by several days in the parks with everyone, then about half of the attendees will join us on a four-day cruise aboard the Dream. Then, my Fiance and I will spend eight days alone in and around Disney World to enjoy each other and the magic provided by Disney.

My questions for all of you regard finding restaurants for two very important and special meals. One would be for dinner the night of our wedding (immediately following the ceremony, so after 5 PM), and would need to accommodate 16-20 people, including four children between 1 and 9 years old. The second would be the love of my life and I for Christmas dinner.

The group meal will be in mid-December, and because we're not people of great means, will need to be moderately priced, yet we would like to have a special time to remember. Where would you take the people you love for the dinner following your wedding, if taking out a second mortgage on your home were not an option?

We have decided that Christmas dinner will be our special meal together, so the sky is the limit. Quiet, intimate, romantic, memorable atmosphere, great service and spectacular food, are all on our wish list. If there were one place in the Orland area, no matter the price or dress requirements, where would you go with that special person in your life? A meal you will never forget!

Both meals can be on or off property, but should be within a reasonable drive of I-4 and Hwy 192, say 30-45 minutes.

We're concerned about reservations that time of year, so we're trying to come up with a short list of possibilities so we can begin our attempts to lock down reservations.

We both have been online looking for restaurants, but we're stumped.

I'm looking for any help all of you can provide that will assist us in making this special time in our lives even better.

Thank you so much for your assistance, and my sincerest apologies for the long, long post.

Joe and Colleen

I can't really think of anything for your wedding night, I'm sure people who live around the Orlando area will have a hayday with that!!!
As for your "sky's the limit" Christmas dinner, I would definitely recommend Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian. Here's the site http://victoria-alberts.com/
They're a bit pricey, but I think it'll be exactly what you're looking for!!!
Good luck, have a WONDERFUL wedding, and all the best!

I read your post and congrats. In my spare time I dabble in event planning so instantly I thought I could help.

I would agree with the previous poster for your special Christmas Night-Dinner for 2 - I would go with Victoria and Alberts. Maybe try for the Chef table. If not V&A you can try:
California Grill (hopefully in the late evening so you can see the fireworks over the castle)
Artist Point (after dinner wander thru the Wilderness Lodge and end up at the pier to watch the water pagent parade go by)
Yachtmans Steakhouse (not sure how much of Illuminations you can catch from this restaurant)

As far as the big dinner for everyone, while this is a chain, there is Maggiano's on International Drive. They have private banquet rooms, the food is wonderful and no one will go away hungry.

For $40 adult/$18 (5-11 years old) you get two appetizers, two salads, two pastas, two entree's and two desserts. All served family style. You can go up from there. I was shocked at the selections they had.

Maggiano's
9101 International Dr Ste 2400, Ste. 2400
Orlando, FL 32819-8120

This is a short drive from Disney World right on International Drive. I am not a spokes person for Maggiano's... I have however eaten at about 6 different locations and everytime the food has been amazing.

This is just a thought...and at $40 a person - won't break the bank.

My daughter got married in Oct at WDW and we ate at the Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian Hotel. It was reasonable. We had about 20 people and they made us a limited menu for our guests to select from. The cafe is huge and beautiful and the food was Great! :yay:

This is the Disney Restaurants forum and is generally limited to restaurants on Disney property. If you are looking for an off-property restaurant you may also want to post in the Orlando Attractions forum, because there are more locals there and people who are familiar with staying and dining offsite. On this forum you are most likely to get responses about on-property restaurants.

First off congratulations. As another pp wrote, Maggiano's is very good. Then for your private dinner. You may want to look into Tutto Italia Ristorante or Bistro de Paris. DH and I have eaten and enjoyed dinner at both, and Bistro you may be able to get a window table and watch illuminations. Both of these restaurants are in Epcot and you would need admission to the Park

Narcoossee's and Citricos are located at the Grand Floridian. We have eaten at these as well and are great restauants.

Thank you all so very much for your comments on where to eat. We are having fun with the planning and listening to your experiences.

Thanks again,

Joe and Colleen
