We're also having the intro. to our ceremony be "Before we start today's ceremony we would like to recognize those who are here in spirit and are present in our hearts and minds with a moment of silence."
I had an open chair for my mom and when my Dad sat down I had him place a yellow rose (her fav) on the seat as a placeholder for her.
We did something a little bit different.
We waited until the reception, and then when it came time for the toasts, we had the first person making the toasts announce that first, they would pour one glass of champagne in honor of all of those who couldn't be there whether due to time or distance, and that they were with us in their hearts. That single glass then remained untouched on the cake table.

We are doing a family table with photos of family that cannot be there for various reasons. DFiance's mom and sister cannot travel so we will have their photo. DFiance's brother and dad passed away in 2001 and 2004. My mom just passed away last week. We are also having 2 calla lillies placed there in our families honor.
