My wedding is in 13 days and I would like to lose about 5 pounds just for dress to fit a little better. Any ideas on weight lose with out totally changing my eating habits.

Follow the South Beach Diet phase 1. When I start to gain a few pounds, this method always take off about 5-9 pounds in 2 weeks. Phase 1 is pretty strict, but if you follow it, your hunger cravings go away quickly. Here is a basic run down of acceptable food:

Certain Meats and Poultry, including
Boiled ham
Lean ground beef
Turkey and chicken breast
Canadian and/or turkey bacon
Low- and/or non-fat lunch meat
All types of seafood

Beans, including:
Black eyed peas
Great northern beans
Chickpeas
Pinto beans

A wide variety of vegetables, including:
Tomatoes
Squash
Onions
Mushrooms
Lettuce
Sprouts
Spinach
Okra

One serving of nuts each day such as almonds, cashews, or macadamia nuts
Low-fat cheeses
Eggs
Fats and oils such as olive oil, avocado, or mayo
Sugar substitutes
Treats such as sugar-free gelatin, hard sugar-free candy, and fudge pops

You probably can't lose 5 pounds of fat in 2 weeks, but you can lose a couple pounds of fat and a few of bloat. Portion control, watch the salt and limit alcohol.

Drop all liquid drinks except for water. And drink up to half your weight in ounces.

So if you weigh 120 pounds--that is 60 ounces of water to sip throughout the day.

It will naturally curb hunger as sometimes thirst displays as hunger (so your body will tell you you need food when you really need a drink of water.)

It will also help flush toxins and such out of the body.

Of course--you should still eat when you are hungry and make sure you are eating properly---this isn't a water fast.;)

I tend to like sweet tea, so I already cut that out. And I do use a bit of salt so I'm cutting back on that as well. If I only drop a couple pounds I'll be happy. Thanks for tips so far.

If you're at or very close to your ideal weight now, I don't think it'll be possible to lose five pounds. (i.e., if you're 5'4" and weigh 118 or 120 pounds). To determine your ideal weight for a woman, it's 100 pounds at 5', and then five pounds for each inch over, so 5'4" is 120 pounds.

If you're more than 10 pounds over your ideal, you could probably lose at least two pounds by modestly cutting your caloric intake by 250 a day (a soda and a couple cookies) and by increasing your exercise by 250 calories a day (if you weigh 130, 45 minutes a day of aerobics or equivalent amount of exercise).

3500 calories = 1 pound

So, to lose 5 pounds, you have to burn off and/or not intake 45,500 calories. And you'd have to do it in 13 days. If you don't want to do a radical diet change like Week 1 of South Beach (which even then, unless you're really way over your ideal weight, I don't think you'll lose 5 pounds in two weeks), it's more realistic to aim for losing maybe two pounds. But if you really want to try, eliminate as many things with saturated fat as you can and eat more lean meats (but still only a few ounces a day), fresh fruit and veggies.

Congrats on your wedding! Hope it's a fabulous day!

If you do that, you'll probably look like you've lost 5 pounds. Congratulations on wedding.

Thanks. After my divorce a few years ago I never thought I would remarry. It's sure going to be a change going form the mom of 2 teen girls to adding 3 step sons.

Congrats!

Along with what you're already doing, if you have a pilates DVD or class you could do, and your back is healthy (not that those with painful backs can't do pilates, but you don't want to risk it right now), you might do 5 or so sessions...even the 20 minutes Winsor Pilates sessions make visible changes with me, and when I was thinner the difference was even more obvious. I actually did pilates for a year, along with some diet modification, and I look FAR smaller in my wedding pictures than my weight at the time would have made you think. :)

You could cut down on your eating portions. Get smaller plates is what I would suggest. It makes it look like you have a lot more food than you really do.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Flushing the toxins and fats out helps.

Exercise. Swim, run, jog, dance, ect. It should all work.

There is never a guarantee about how much you will lose.

Good luck!

When I need to lose a few pounds, I go on the Special K diet. I always lose at least 6 lbs. in a week. I don't eat the snacks allowed just the cereal and a meal. If I have to lose it more quickly, I only eat 2 bowls of cereal/day. It is very filling.

Have you ever tried drinking GreenTea?

Try replacing your sweet tea with green tea that you brew yourself with ice.

It DOES NOT taste good by any means, but it is a natural diuretic, and I feel good when I drink it regularly.

Congrat's and with the extended family, keep a sense of humor, and treat one and all the same.Disciplining, rewarding, birthdays, treats, all or none.

The one stresser in second marriages is the kids and finances...

There are a lot of different personality's, the attention from the parent and just the trouble that kids can get into....

Don't let if fuel address concerns, notice and reward, give a praise a day.

As far as the diet, walk to get out stress, cut the sweet tea out. I make a solar tea and add unsweated razberry flavor from the coffee isle at SAMs, then when I pour a glass I add 1-2 packets of sugar free product. Taste as sweet as the sweet tea without the sugar.

eat apples, turkey breast wrap, cantelope, get the Quacker oat meal snack bars for sweet tooth. I also like to do cucumbers with vinegar. Seemed to burn a quick 5 lbs with that and carrots as a snack.

Oh, a banana and OJ to start the day.
Have a wonderful day and new life,
:lovestruc

You have to change to lose weight. Tons of water, NO soda, and no junk food.:goodvibes

Be careful with green tea. A friend of my aunt's ended up with kidney problems from too much green tea. She lost alot of weight and ended up with kidney failure and they finally pinpointed it to that. She was drinking it all day.

Thank you all for the tips. I have been taking them down. I've been sipping water all day. Not one cup of tea or soda. I know that I cant change everything an that I'll slip and have something I'm not suppose to but I'll make it. I have always felt that you should never deny yourself anything but have treats in very small amounts.

Hi,

I wish you a happy wedding day in advance.

You can loose several pounds if you follow a good cookie diet plan. One can loose weight by eating a cookie every two hours and had a meal of lean meat and vegetables. I know how tough it can be, and quite frankly cookie diet plans are good.

Wow.

How did she make herself drink it all day?

It's vile.

Good point though, that's awful.:sad2:

Have you looked into places that do those body wraps? You can do one the day before your wedding and lose an inch or two here and there.

Good luck!

Lots of great tips. I have always lost on Weight Watchers and that is basically portion control and calorie counting (counted as points)...I have no idea why I have not gone back since I need to lose a few lbs since having a baby...I am basically doing portion control and working out.

I agree with lots of water, vegetables, lean meats, fish and high fiber. Try to limit fruits and juices...too much sugar. Try to limit to higher fiber fruits.

Walking too and light weights work...try the neoprene shorts too!

Congrats on your wedding!!!
