I was wondering if you can go directly through the Orange County courthouse to get your license by mail. I hate to use another company and pay them an extra $100 just for the shipping that I could do myself. Has anyone done this or is it not possible? Thanks!

I was told before that it wasn't possible. Sorry.

I actually thought I saw that you can do it. We got an email from Rev Tim Herring and it had info on it that said you could and it was $190. Oh wait, do you mean that is including an extra $100? Do you mean that normally it's only $90? If so, I want to see if you get a for sure answer because that does seem silly to pay that much extra just for 'shipping!'

You can't do it yourself by mail. Basically the services that offer "license by mail" are physically going to the courthouse on your behalf, getting the paperwork, sending it to you and having you fill it out and get it notarized (for which you'll pay extra) and then taking your paperwork back to the courthouse.

So how much is it to get it yourself? We will be down there 6 months prior to our wedding (which I know is too early,) but if it's way cheaper to do it yourself in person, it might be worth the 6 hour drive for a long weekend closer to the wedding to get it. It's only good for a certain number of days after you get it, right?

I have all the exact details on my site... if I recall correctly the license is good for 60 days and costs roughly $90.

The courthouse in Kissimmee doesn't typically take a long time and is not far from WDW property - to us it's worth the $ to go on our own rather than pay the extra fee.

Thanks! I knew I had read it somewhere recently :)

wait! i found that you can get a license in ANY county of Florida and be eligible to get married in ANY county in Florida. Now, while Orange county does not do this license by mail, Brevard County does. I downloaded the info and the forms. You can find the info on the Brevard county web page. :thumbsup2

For real????????? :goodvibes

Where do you get one?
A couple who intends to be married in Florida may obtain a marriage license from Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8am to 5:30pm at any Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. Hours may vary so be sure to call ahead. The license does not need to be issued in the county that the ceremony will take place in. The ceremony must take place in the State of Florida to be considered valid.

This is directly from this website.

I've seen it on several websites....

Now, Brevard County's website is:
www.brevardclerk.us

Check it out and let me know what you think.

This was listed on the Brevard Co. website....

Q. What is needed to get a marriage license?

A. All that is required for single adults to obtain a marriage license is for them to come in person to the Clerk's office, bring their driver license or other acceptable identification card and be prepared to pay the fee. A recent change in the law also requires both applicants to provide either their Social Security number, naturalization number, immigration number or passport number.

Anyone contacted them to see if they will issue a license by mail?

license by mail is also on the website. go to "forms" and it gives you 1. instructions on how to do so 2. the first form that must be completed to begin the process

once you get to the "forms" place, it's very step-by-step. i even called the clerk's office to make sure this can be done. i promise! :bride:

just curious, how far in advance should i start the process with the forms? i know it's only good for 60days but how long does it take to get it? :confused3

i just overnighted my initial info 2 days ago, but i'll keep you posted as to the process and how long it takes.

ok thanks :thumbsup2 you just saved me some money with this nice tip!!! :goodvibes i saved the website so i have it when it becomes time to get the license. :thumbsup2
