Wedding Invites and Timeline Questions

Hi y'all -

We just signed our contract for January 2009 which means the save the dates will go out within the next month.

I have a few specific questions for those of you farther along in the process:

1) When did you send the actual invites out? We were thinking of May or June 2008.

2) When did your guests start RSVPing and booking rooms? I've read some threads and I'm start to get worried about the procrastinators in the bunch.

We booked the wedding in the September 2003 for May 2004.

So we sent the first newsletter out in September, with a pre-emptive Save the Date reply card asking a) if they will definitely be attending, may be attending or deffo not attending and b) if they plan on staying on Disney property.

Then we continued to send Newsletters bi-monthly with room block information and how to book.

Then the official formal invites were sent out in the March so just 8 weeks before hand but honestly they were more of a formality than a neccessity as we already knew who were attending.

In the April we sent out the Invites for our At Home reception in the June.

My guests started RSVPing from 8 months out LOL but I had all my numbers by 6 weeks beforehand. I was lucky I didn't have to chase anyone. I had a contracted room block of 75 nights (for certain cost reasons ) but actually I ended up having 150 nights put towards that room block so all was good on that side Most of our guests stayed a week and those from the UK stayed longer

Thank you for that great reply! You have some great suggestions - like the newsletters - that won't make me feel as if I am nagging my guests! I'm hoping most of our 50 or so guests will know right off the bat if they are coming or not and will start to book.

Wow I feel SO behind after reading that! lol

I am about 6 and a half months out and my friend is just starting to work on our invites... lol all that has gone out are the initial save the dates that Disney has sent out. I am working on a newsletter now... sort of... lol

Most of my family knows they can call when they have any questions and do, so everyone seems informed. I definitely want to get the invites out ASAP though! This has motivated me lol.
