Ever get one?

It took me a while today to figure out who sent me the "Save this Date" card & it even included pictures of the happy couple.:confused3

Haven't seen the bride since she was 8 years old and her parents moved away- & then we relocated=over 15 years ago ! And they live in another state-DH says they really must be desperate to find people to invite!

They were neighbors I'd wave "hi: to, and the last summer they put in a pool, so my kids were there a lot.All the "kids" are in their 20's ....the funny part? Invitation has my DH's name wrong:rolleyes1

Strange. I've only had that happen once. Someone I had worked with at a summer job during college sent me one. We hadn't even worked in the same building, just saw each other occasionally. I was puzzled how she got my address. (this was long before internet and we lived in different states!)

I sort of had an experience like that.

We received an invitation to my boyfriend's cousin's wedding. He is related to the groom. I was looking at the bride's name, trying to figure out who she was. The address, both of our last names, and everything was right. Then I realized who the groom was. Personally, I would've loved to have gone, since I haven't met him and some of the members of his family.

But to receive an invite for someone you know you hardly knew would be very strange to me.

I received a shower invitation for a young woman I had never heard of! I have a very unusual name, so there's no way it was meant for someone else. I asked all of my friends and many co-workers if they knew this woman. Nobody did.

So I didn't RSVP.

And a couple of weeks later, my DD's Kindergarten teacher said, "Bruce and Lilly said you haven't responded to Lilly's shower invitation - will you be attending??" It was her son's fiancee! I never ever met her son, didn't even know his name. Didn't even know he was getting married! But she invited me to the shower and the wedding. :confused3

A freind of mine did something very clever for her daughter's bat mitzvah. She wanted to invite her elderly father's friends, people she'd known for ages but who would probably not recognize her married name or her daughter's name. the invitation read "mr and mrs. N. H. invite you to the bat mitzvah f their daughter, M." and for the invitations going to the grandfahter's friends, there was a card enclosed that read "M. H. is the granddaughter of A.W." it avoided a lot of confusion.

Something similar to the OP, I got a graduation invitation this year from a boy that we haven't even seen in over 10 years. We used to go to the same church as his family. I'm sure he wouldn't have known who we were if he saw us on the street. Although I really thought it was just looking for a present, I did send him something. No, I didn't get a thank you in return. :rolleyes1

Are they having an open bar? :rotfl: ;)

That is strange. Even if someone is having a gigantic wedding I wouldn't expect them to invite neighbors who they weren't close to from years ago. Maybe they have fond memories and want to rekindle a friendship, however it seems like an odd way to do that. Do you still keep in touch with her parents at all) IE, Christmas cards, etc...

I think it is sad. My mom once went into a store and the cashier was someone I went to elementary school with. This gal recognized my mom and asked for our address because she was getting married and wanted to invite me. When mom mentioned her, I vaguely remembered the name, I didn't recognize her at all from her yearbook photo. I did not attend the wedding.

No-she wasn't a neighbor I even visited with ! Her kids went to different schools so we didn't even have PTC in common-nothing!

I was very close to other neighbors-one shared a hobby with me-a couple other had sons in same classroom and sports teams etc for many years
