Wedding invitations./thank yous.

Hi. Has anyone made thier own invitations or thank yous? DD 19 is getting married next Aug. and since it is going to be a small wedding, we were wandering is we should.
Where can we get some good ideas,sizes.ect.?

I have made both... 5 x 7 is a good size for the invites, but it can be a challenge to find envelopes. I found a store that sells them, but the internet is a great place for that stuff. Thank you notes are way easier - the envelopes are at staples. It is just an 8.5 x 11 sheet cut in half and folded. Fits right in!

As for ideas - I use finestationery.com and paperstyle.com. They both have ideas that are simple and complicated. Your DD should also look through bridal magazines and order the catalogs for invites.

A place for good fonts is dafont.com. You can type in words (like names) to see what they will look like. We always said that if the bride's name doesn't look good, why use it?

I would second the idea of looking at standard envelopes first, and then determining your invite size. It'll be less frustrating in the long run, trust me!

Or another option to consider is going to Michaels (and I would assume other big arts and crafts stores as well) and look at their invitation kits. They would include the invite,envelopes,response cards etc. These are designed to be printed on your basic laserjet or inkjet.

You can start with the basic card, and then add embellishments if you want. They have templates for printing the invites too.
