My DF told me last night that he would like to get married in Vermont in the snow instead of at Disney. I have been planning for 4 months, and he just decides to voice his opinion.
At first, I was pretty down about the whole thing. I swear I can smell Disney wedding cakes when I look at the pictures! I had my heart set on raspberry mousse! But, after looking at some sites, we found a place we both like.
What do you think?

At least I'll get a Disney honeymonn:)

it looks so nice all lit up, itd be a great place for a christmas themed wedding!

That location is just gorgeous....Nothing is more romantic than a wedding in the snow! It looks perfect! Good Luck!

It's the Green Mountain Inn in Stowe, Vermont. Don't get me wrong, it's gorgeous. I just had my heart set on something else. I keep telling myself that I'll still get a Disney honeymoon. We'd spend the weekend in Vermont and then go to Disney for 4-5 days.
I had all kinds of Disney activities planned. DF has all these ideas about snow and Christmas and sledding, but he never told me. He said that he was afraid to tell me, and that he REALLY wants a snow wedding! I told him Disney does Winter Wonderland themed weddings, but he said it's not the same. So, I guess I'm a Disney honeymoon girl, not a wedding girl.

Maybe try to incorporate some of your Disney ideas in the Vermont wedding. I understand how disappointing it can be. I'm sure you will make it a amazing wedding.

cant you see if any other disney parks will have snow that time of year!

Not sure if paris might and you have honk kong and tokyo not sure what weather they will have when you want your wedding.

Just a thought to have snow and disney! Can you ask disney if they will bring the snow machines in from mgm? When we went last year and saw the osbourne lights in snowed

Regardless of where ever you have it, it will be beautiful! The idea of a snow covered wedding sounds amazing and it will be priceless in your hearts for years to come! I CAN NOT wait to see pictures!!!

(Is it obvious that I am a winter weather girl? I would live in Alaska if I could! :rotfl: )

At first I was disapointed. But, we've talked to the owners of the inn, and chosen a menu, color scheme, and cake flavor (Almond cake with Grand Marnier filling). I designed a simple, 2-tier cake *see below*. I'm really getting into it. I think it'll be really fun. We're going to have a horse-drawn sleigh ride, and we're going to go sledding on the hill behind the inn. Plus, my fiance is way more into the planning, so it makes me feel better. With the Disney wedding, he just nodded a lot and went along with all my ideas. Plus, we're still going to Disney right after. I'm just enjoying him being interested. We're going with light blue and silver for colors. Here is my rough cake drawing:

Yes, the authentic Vermont thing will be wonderful. See if the Inn does an evening sleigh ride, some do, & these can be breath taking! the sleigh ride & the Inn will spoil you forever! :cloud9:
Would you be interested in arranging for a small reception at Disney? Or even a repeat of your vows?
I do know couples who have 2 weddings, sometimes for religious reasons & in other instances, for the inclusion of distant family members.
Happiness & Love in your new Wedded Life!

I suggested the same thing! But, part of the reason my fiance picked Vermont is his brother. He's in the union, and he has been laid off a lot. His wife has had 22 knee operations and may get her leg amputated. She's been out of work, and they can't afford Disney, and she can't walk around very well. I didn't know all of that when he first made the suggestion. She never complains, and I thought she was getting better.
So, I won't be having a second ceremony. But, my brother and sister live really close to Disney, and they will join us there at least for a day or two. So, we'll get the best of both worlds.
The people at the inn have been really friendly, and it is beautiful. We haven't had any snow here, so I'm looking forward to a winter wonderland in Vermont!
I appreciate the suggestion! I am trying for that night sleigh ride!!! :goodvibes
