We were invited to the wedding of an acquaintance, to whom we haven't spoken in several years. She used to work with my husband, but I was never really friends with her. We went out a few times with the group from work.
We can't go to her wedding because it's the same day as our anniversary, it's out of town and I'll be 9 months pregnant. We didn't really want to go anyway since we haven't seen her in years and weren't that close.
So, my question is should we still have to send a gift? If she had attended our wedding, I would most definitely send a gift, but we didn't know her then. Is if fine to just send our regrets with no other ackowledement of her wedding. Could we send a card without a gift just to let her know we're thinking of her? We can't really afford a gift right now, especially for someone we probably won't see again.
