Hey guys!

I am getting married at Cypress Grove in Orlando in October 2010. We will be staying in a villa for our 2 and a half week holiday with my mom, her partner, my best friend (and bridesmaid) and her partner. We are unsure yet how many family members will be coming with us but we're hoping about 10-12.

I was hoping to have a wedding reception type dinner at one of the Disney park restaurants. Having been to Disney but never eaten at the restaurants (always ate off site) I am relying on you guys to help me out.

Where do you think would be the best place to have our wedding dinner? I want somewhere fairly romantic but no too intimate as it wont just be the two of us lol And with a varied choice of food so everyone can be pleased (hopefully!)

And do all the parks have firework shows every evening? As it would be lovely to have our dinner and then go outside to watch a firework display.

And then the morning after our wedding I would love for me and h2b to have breakfast on our own at a Disney restaurant. These two meals would be the only ADRs we would make for the holiday so I need the best of the best! Which would you recommend and why?

Thanks, Laura x

Congratulations! On the dinner, I would suggest the private dining room at the California Grill; or The Chef's Domain at Citricos. Both offer excellent food.

Congrat's And for me no ? Cali Grill. Great food. Very nice atmosphere.
The best view of the world.

We had our wedding dinner at Yachtsman Steak House at the Yacht Club. Dinner for 11, food and service were fantastic. For a group that size you need to make either the first reservation or last of the night to accomodate your big group. After dinner you could walk to the bridge between the Boardwalk and Beach Club and see the EPCOT fireworks.

My first choice would be Cali Grill in the Contemporary because of the view for Wishes at MK. Second, probably Yachtsman in the Yacht Club because the food is excellent and the atmosphere is a bit less hectic. Third, Citricos in the Grand Floridian for a quite and well done meal. If you want to go in the parks, I've always wanted to try Bistro de Paris in Epcot. I've heard great things about the food and atmosphere.

For your breakfast, if you want the full Disney experience I'd go with a character meal and Crystal Palace in the MK is my favorite. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is great! Without characters I'd do breakfast at Boma in AKL or Kona Cafe in the Poly.

The problem with the main dining room at CG is it can get very loud. A table of 2 sometimes has trouble hearing one another. I can't imagine being in the main dining room with a party of 12. I personally find the main dining room of CG to be anything but romantic. However, the wine room or the as I mentioned the private dining room at CG would accomodate the OP's group. The Wine Room is set off from the main dining room, and can (not always) be lower in volume. These days, there are too many unruly children and parents in CG. Food and service are still top notch, but overall CG has suffered since the inception of the DDP. Regardless of which room, or what time you eat at CG, you can access the viewing platform for Wishes.

OP, since this is your event, what type of food do you like.

Thanks for all your replies. You are all so helpful!

I am a bit of a foodie and love all types of food! LOL My husband to be is more fussy and prefers "American" or Chinese. Even then he is very fussy. He much prefers processed food to proper food eeeuuww.

Are those that you have mentioned non-character dinners? I would prefer that.

What time are the fireworks generally during early October?

Do you think it would be fairly easy to book the California Grill private room? I have read some posts about how people have struggled to book ADRs and I am worried I wont be able to book. Especially with a big party! And it's not like I'll be able to just book a different day!

I would call grand gatherings today to get some preliminary information (general availability, booking/cancellation guidelines, deposit, ect). Then call back on your 90 day mark and make a confirmed reservation. The fireworks generally go about 9 or so, but the official schedule for all the parks will come out early July for October dates. You can look at the menus for all WDW restaurants on allears.net, that will give you some idea as to where to go, but I recommend either an EPCOT or boardwalk restaurant for atmosphere and Illuminations viewing. Congratulations, and good luck with all your planning!
