How did you do your nails the day of ? Did you get fake acrylic nails? natural nails? anyone have short nails?

I didn't want to get the acrylic nails so I started growing my own nails long .. I wanted them to be medium to short in length and look nice and natural with maybe a light french manicure.. but my nails are really weak and break easily.. so they started breaking one by one and I decided to just bite them all off last night...

now I don't know if I should just get fake ones or go (extremely) short and natural.

But I'm not a big fan of acrylic nails... They do more damage than good. I have weak nails too. I use a product called nailtiques (it's about $20 for a really small bottle.) You can find it at any drug store. I bought it at walgreens. It really works well to prevent splitting and it really protects and strengthens the nail. You have to be dilligent about applying it though.

Here's a link I found on amazon so you can see what it looks like.

HTH!

my natural nails are nice and I tried to grow them out, but before the wedding, they started to break. I opted for acrylics. My nails were awful when I took them off...took about 6 months to grow out, but it was worth it for me to have nice nails for the wedding...

I have naturally brittle nails which split and I use OPI's Naily Envy, this stuff is a miracle worker and leaves you with nice strong nails, I would recommend it to anyone :thumbsup2

You should do whatever will make you feel prettiest on that day. Yes, short acrylics can look very nice, but I'm a big fan of natural. I myself have VERY short nails that I plan on having manicured (to file those rough edges and tame those cuticles) but without polish. As long as you like them, everyone else will too.

Many moons ago, when I got married, I had both. Even though I normally have strong nails, in the two weeks prior to the wedding, I broke off 4 nails. You can't tell which ones aren't real in any of the pictures that show close ups of our hands. My fingers look short and fat with a shorter nail, so there was no way I was going to cut the rest down to match the 4 I broke.

I cut my nails short for my wedding, and just got a simple manicure with a light colored nail polish...very light peach...almost skin tone. I don't really like bright nail polish on myself.

I'm going to do gels for the wedding. I'm an Engineer...so most days I get my hands dirty and well...the nails aren't the prettiest things around. Only way I can guarentee they will look pretty for the wedding is by getting fake ones. I'll either do it on the day of Arrival in Disney at GF or I will do it the day before we leave for Florida at my local manicurist (although I haven't visited her in like 2 years)
