Wedding dance entrance

I agree w/ JR6ooo4, it was a bit too long-creative though! And would never be allowed in my church!!! I don't mind the dancing in church-but like I said it would never fly here!!!

I saw it on the news last night and thought it was really cute. I do think it is strange to have them go on tv and recreate the dance. We tend to take things and run them into the ground.

My god, there are some UPTIGHT people on the DIS! I suspected it before now...it's just been confirmed.

Lighten up, people...How many people have gone down the aisle in Dead seriousness IN A CHURCH, who are now divorced? Get real.

I just wish I would have thought of it!

I would have been the middle aged aunt at the service who was not amused. But who cares? When people do things for shock value, it's no fun if no one objects - if no one is miffed or offended, then it's not as fun, right?

I really doubt they did it for "shock value". I think they did it to have fun, to make the day memorable and fun. I can understand some people feeling it isn't appropriate in a church but to be offended? :confused3

I'm the dissenter. I thought it outrageously overdone. Save it for when you get to the reception hall.

I saw this yesterday on Facebook too. Our local country radio station had it on their page.

I thought it was great. I was surprised at first and then saw how the guests were taking it and thought it was great. Pleased to see the church let them celebrate their day how they wanted.:thumbsup2

I think they were thinking the whole time about becoming You Tube celebs, rather than about making covenants to each other and to God in a service of worship.

Also, I couldn't believe it when the bride said she was a dancer, even in college, because I thought she had the most awkard movements of any of them.

ITA-this had "Post me on YouTube" written all over it.

This was way too long, and painful to watch. Probably because it was so awful on many levels.

I didn't know who the music was by. Chris Brown, isn't he the guy who beat the heck out of Brianna? How appropriate for a wedding.

Maybe you know that I DJ. In the last year this kind of stuff is happening more and more, and it definitely feels like they are doing it for a youtube, 15 minutes of fame kinda thing.

I find myself wanting to do less and less weddings and more of all the other types of events.

Between Bridezillas and the "Look at me!Look at me! types ( including the grooms ), it really is not as much fun anymore.

I once was at a reception where the bridal party had a 20 minute "play".... It was cute... for a minute. Then everybody but them was bored silly.

I saw this on 2 different news shows this evening.

I thought was was pretty cool!

I liked it. And the only person who gets to say what's appropriate in any particular church is the pastor/etc of that particular church. From watching my friend's preparations for her big fat catholic wedding, and reading the travails of others planning similar at different parishes...not even with a catholic wedding is anything particular set in stone...heck, my friend had pumpkins lining the aisles of her church (really close to Halloween but officially the black/orange colors were b/c it was a day of Giants vs As world series game).

I do wonder if some non-likers watched to the end? My husband only watched half and had very little to say. I asked if he watched it all, b/c I figured he'd LOVE it, and when we did watch the whole thing, he started crying b/c it was so full of love, especially as the couple did the traditional, but fast, wedding two-step (only way to describe it) together to the pastor.

Then again, I walked down our aisle with dad and stepdad (who hate each other) to the drumming of a bodhran, and we did the recessional to the Indiana Jones theme...so what do I know of tradition? :rotfl:

I thought it was really stupid. I can see doing something like this walking into the reception but not in church. For me it was not appropriate and the routine was awful. They will be recreating it on the Today show tomorrow too. What for? Once was too much for me.

They looked like a fun group and their families and friends seemed to enjoy it. A lot less boring than many weddings I've been to.

My DD is getting married soon, I'd love it if she had this much fun at her ceremony! But the future SIL & DD are quiet & reserved types so I know something like this would never happen. Maybe someday my son will get married , he's much more outgoing, I could see him & his friends doing this. I bet the reception was a blast!

It looks like they had so much fun! I absolutely loved it!!

I loved it-for the most part. The song is great...what is it's title? It went on for a bit...but so what?

The coming together of the bride and groom was well planned....wonderful lyrics.

But who am I to say....I walked down the aisle to a traditional funeral hymn:rotfl:

ETA: I found the song, great song, beautiful voice, troubled young man.

:worship::worship::worship:

I CRINGED when I saw this. I'm actually shocked so many people love it!

So you see this as something done for shock value???

I didn't see that at all. To me, they looked like a fun bunch of people who had a blast doing this. The guests looked like they enjoyed it as much as the participants. Even the older guests were enjoying it. Definitely a celebration, and I bet the guests will be talking about that wedding for a long, long time!

Personally, that is a church I wouldn't mind belonging to.

I LOVED IT!!!!

What a great way to start the celebration!

And I still managed to get choked up watching it.

Some people need to lighten up.
